I found this whilst Googling to find out why the address is familiar. The last section on the page is about Mr Goodman. ??? :'(

Has anyone come across other puzzling entries?

Armed Forces / Re: Does any one recognise anyone in this picture

This post caught my attention because my late father-in-law was in the Royal Army Service Corps in Palestine at the end of WWII. He came home in 1948 and met his 9 month old son, my husband. I've looked at Gig's link to Palestine Units but it 'rings no bells' and the OH has just gone to bed. Wondered if anyone knows if I can find out which unit he served in and where he went etc.

I agree, pj. what we must remember is that the older rellies who are still with us were the people who went through the 'disgrace and shame' at the time and in some cases passed it on. To us it's just a very interesting piece of the past but they still have the scars of having to live through it.

Just reading this post I think it's such a shame rellies get nasty or show disdain because there's nothing they can do to change the past and whether they love it or hate it it's always gonna be there. I gave some family details to the oldest lady left in my family (76) and she thought it was wonderful. Mind you, I haven't found any skeletons yet! The thing is not to let them get to you, it's your hobby and you can enjoy it without them.

Suz,
That's fantastic and I guess would be priceless to anyone. The nearest I got is looking after some grave papers and funerals bills for my mother-in-law's parents. My family documents must've gone somwehere else. I left the north-east 40 years ago but don't recall ever having seen anything like that. I'm sure you'll take good care of you treasures.

Hi Celia,
I have in my possession a baptism card for my late father-in-law, born May 1921 and baptised at St Lukes Church, Miles Platting, Manchester on 1st June 1921. I also have my husband's baptism card from St Mary's Church in Droylsden, Lancashire dated 20 July 1947 when he was 24 days old. Then I have his Cradle Roll card dated 28 April 1954 from St Martin's Church in Droylsden. As well as these I have baptism cards for my 4 children who were baptised between 1968 and 1978. Fascinating pieces of history (as are the school reports I have for my father-in-law)
