I believe I am related to your Thomas and I know his ancestry.

Can you please supply some more information on Thomas and Jane?

Here is a calculated list of the most common forenames in Cornwall compiled from baptism records:

There is nothing particularly unusual about the most common forenames.

The Disposal Services Authority did not exist 70 years old.

Occupation Interests / Re: Excise officers

The index to the excise minutes books is available for free online, but has never been transcribed.

Is there interest in starting a project to provide an online searchable index?

I have done similar projects in the past and I am capable of providing the computer and website expertise.  My experience has also been that there would be a large number of persons who would utilize such an interest, but extremely few persons who would be willing to assist with the transcription.  I was thinking perhaps a way around this problem would be to require anyone who wanted to view the index be required to transcribe a few pages.

World War Two / Surplus British naval warship sales

My grandfather was a British naval officer and after the end of WW2 he purchased a British navy warship.  I am trying to find the name of the ship and the record of the sale.  He later sold the warship to a movie studio.

What age do you have for relative, 1891, England?

The birth certificate, QLD, 1900, would ask for marriage details and previous issue which would be useful to you.

"..Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1900 where she is married.."
Do you know that she is married, or are you assuming this from the birth entry in QLD BDM index?

Do you have an example image of a birth certificate from 1900?  I did not think marriage details were included.

I am assuming she was married.

My relative was last seen unmarried in England in 1891.  The next sighting is in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1900 where she is married and named on her son's birth certificate.

I can not find a marriage record in either England or Australia.  I have searched many passenger lists and I have found nothing.

What records should I be checking to find about her immigration to Australia?

England / Re: History of a corporation
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 23:20 GMT (UK)  »
All the information I have obtained so far has been through searches in the British Newspaper Archive.

Nothing shows up when I search for the company name in the County archives.

The corporation owned multiple mills and these mills did not disappear when the corporation went out of business.  However, I do not know the address, name, or what happened to these mills.

One clue is that one of the owners of the corporation was a manager of a local bank.  This bank might possibly have some records.  This bank failed and went out of business around the same time.
