Hi
Don't know whether I have posted before or not - before the computer crashed! - but would like to know more about great grandfather etc who came from County Armagh.

Robert Wesley Courtney , Great Grandfather, born 13 November 1842, Derryadd, Armagh. Parents: John Courtney & Ann McKee.  Married (1) Rebecca Greenaway, 8 December 1864, Portadown.  Rebecca died June 1865.  Robert then married (2) Sarah Todd, 27 February 1872, Drumcree, Church of Ireland, Parish of Drumcree, Lurgan, County Armagh.  Sarah was born Abt. 1846, Ireland and died 1893 Victoria, Australia.  Robert and Sarah had three known children John, Joseph and Robert.  Robert, Sarah and their three sons immigrated to Australia, 15 January 1881 – arriving Melbourne, Victoria June 1881.

Would like to know more about Rebecca Greenaway and Sarah Todd.

Cheers

Stirlingshire / Re: PATON and PARK of Stirlingshire
« on: Monday 21 May 07 21:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi Hannah
Thank you
I have so many conflicting things about these two!

From the ships manifest we have - James Paton b about 1819, married Catherine PARK b about 1827, marriage date unknown, had one child Mary born 1848 and subsequently emigrated to Australia on 4th April 1849 on the "Mary Shepherd" from Alace?, Stirlingshire.

From birth and death certs - on birth certificate of Robert Paton  in 1859 the ages of both Catherine and James are stated as 35 years (assuming that they were both born abt 1824)?, married in 1849 in Stirlingshire.

But this has definitely been the only reference I have had to the those two names in Scotland.

Thanks again
