Hi, I am descended from the Hasletts of Drumneecy  which is about 4 miles north of Dungiven. I have done extensive research on the Haslett family both locally and in the Public Record office in Belfast., starting with John Haslett born c 1665 However I have not come across a Haslett/ McCloskey marriage in the area. If you have any further details I will be happy to help

Isaac Irwin, c1767-22 June 1847, and his wife Martha ? c1785 - 20 Nov 1863, were my GGGrandparents.  Their daughter Elizabeth married George Stewart of Ballyness about 1842 and they had 6 children.

Fiona,I was born in Ballyness and my GGrandmother was an Irwin from the next townland of Derryork. There were several Irwin families in the surrounding area and my grandfather's sister married into one of them. If you have any Stewart connections i will be happy to share what info I have on the families.  Regards

Jack Gee, I see you are looking for Hasletts in the Dungiven area. I have a lot of info on the Drumneechy and Straw Hasletts as I am descended from them. Contact me if you think I can help.

Fiona, the best of luck trying to wade through the Irwin families in the Dungiven area.. A little bit of help - Edward Agustus Irwin was a grandson of my great grandfather, George Stewart, via his daughter Mary Stewart. Isaac Irwin, the father of an illigitimate son and daughter, was my great grandfather's brother in law. However I cannot help with the origin of the names "Edward Agustus". If you have any queries in this area I will be glad to help.

In the Subsidy Rolls of 1662 there is a John Haslett of DRUMCLIFFE in the Parish of Aghanloo, Co. Londonderry. Where is (or was) Drumcliffe ?

Glenys,
There is no Ferguson listed as renting a property directly from Mr. Connolly in the town but several people rented several properties and undoubtedly sub-let to other tenants. However in the section entitled      "Parkes of Newtoun Lemavadie  1699" there are two Fergusons, James Fferguson who rented land of 6 acres and 15 perches and a William Fforgison who rented 5 acres 2 roods and 14 perches of arable land and 5 acres 3 roods and 18 perches of bog and heath.
note - I have used the original spelling. It may be significant that these properties are adjacent to one another on either side of a track which would be Irishgreen Street today and approximately where the Roman Catholic church stands.

Regards

The whole of the Limavady estate, from Ballyquin on the Dungiven road to the mouth of the river Roe was taken over from the Phillips family by a Mr. Connolly in 1698. I have a map of the whole estate showing the town and the surrounding countryside dated 1699 and giving the names of the tenants and the amount of land they held. If you give me the names you are looking for I will check to see if any come up.

Regards
