London and Middlesex / JOHN HALE and ELIZA
« on: Saturday 28 July 12 16:57 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone connected to this family?

I am looking for the marriage of a John Hale to Eliza around 1840s.  They had two children, also John b 1846 and Eliza b 1855.  John (senior) was a French Polisher.  I think he must have died quite young.  I have found Eliza (senior) and her children living in Witney, Oxfordshire on the 1871 census.  She had remarried a man name Broom.  Eliza was born in Burford Oxfordshire but the children were born in St Pancras, Middlesex.

Eliza (senior) was my gg grandmother.  I have the her marriage certificate to William Broom.  This states that she is a 'spinster' and that her father's name was also Hale.

I cannot find any census records of John and Eliza.  Can anyone help, please.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply, Kim.

The Eliza you found born in Burford is almost cetainly my gg grandmother.

I am almost sure that 'Hale' was the  name of Eliza's first hushand, John.  He shows up on my great grandmother's Eliza's marriage certificate 1876, to Charles Mansell, as deceased.

Eliza (junior!) my g grandmother, was born in St Pancras in London as was her elder brother, also a John!  They obviously all came back to Witney and her mother married William Thomas Broom.

I have no information on where John (senior) came from.

Regards
Alice

Please - is anyone related to this gentleman?  He was a chimney sweep and lived in Corn Street in Witney.  He married Eliza Hale in 1861 who had two children by a previous marriage.  Eliza Hale's daughter (also named Eliza) was my great grandmother and I am trying to find a link to her ancestry through the Broom family as I cannot find any 'Hales' who are related to her.  Hope someone can help - many thanks!

I have traced my Bovett family back to 1610 but cannot get any further.  I have been told that the family originated from Italy.  Does anyone have any information regarding this information, please?

Is it possible to access records beyond 1610?

Many thanks

Hello Morgan

Thank you so much for the information on Eliza and William.  I shall send for the marriage certificate.  This could be really helpful in tracking down the rest of the family!

Alice

Does anyone have any information about a William and Eliza Broom?  I  found them on the 1861 and 1871 Census living in Corn Street in Witney.  He was a chimney sweep.

Eliza Broom was my great great grandmother.  On the census they have a John and Eliza Hale living with them and I am sure these were the children from her previous marriage to John Hale (senior).

I have a copy of the marriage certificate of the daughter Eliza (my great grandmother) - she married a Charles Mansell in 1876.  John Hale senior was shown as deceased on this document.  He was a French Polisher by trade.

I cannot find any information on the senior Eliza.  I am looking for her parents!  Can anyone help - please!

London and Middlesex / Looking for Eliza Hale and family St Pancas 1855
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 18:17 BST (UK)  »
Looking for any information concerning the birth of Eliza Hale in St Pancras 1855.  Her father's name was John.  He was a French Polisher. I would like to find out her mother's name and any other information of this family.

Does anyone know if/where I can access  any parish records for this area around 1855.  Have they been put on to CD yet?   Is St Pancras combined with any neighbouring area?
