BOVETT family of Devon
« on: Thursday 26 April 12 17:42 BST (UK) »
I have traced my Bovett family back to 1610 but cannot get any further.  I have been told that the family originated from Italy.  Does anyone have any information regarding this information, please?

Is it possible to access records beyond 1610?

Many thanks

Parish registers were first recorded under instruction from Thomas Cromwell in Henry VIII's reign - specifically 1538. Many have survived from that date but not all. (Mice, fire, damp etc., all took their toll) You don't say which parish or where you have found the records. http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/index.html has a list of parishes and where the registers are held.
