Kirkcudbrightshire / Kirkcudbright Phone Book

Does anyone have access to a Kirkcudbright or Southwest phone book? Or does anyone know if it exsists on the Net?  Am trying to find distant relatives in these areas but with the new technology of cell phones this seems to be a growing problems.  Any suggestiions?

Have you thought to look in the church session records?  I found  in the Anwoth kirk session records the entire listing of my family's baptisimal records, which listed the partents, dates when born and when christened.  It was a unique find and I am pretty sure not all parish did that but it might be worth checking out if you have access to them for your parish.

I sure will. I was surprised to learn from their site that the current "on again off again" mail strikes in the UK won't effect international mail.  I find this hard to believe as I am still waiting for photo copies from three weeks ago when I was the West Register House in Edinburgh and am still waiting for my grades from last semester from the Archival program I am enrolled in at the University of Dundee plus some info from the historical society in Dumfries Scotland.  Hope it won't take too long.

Thank you for the site, I'll check it out. I am a bit used to dificult sites as the National Archives for Scotland is sort of the same way, great info when you actually get to it.

I can understand the frustration, I have both the names of my two ancestors parents, but still I can't find my ancestors birth records in the oprs. Nor can I find a marriage of my gggrandmother in Scotland or the US.  Sites like Scotland People are great when you can find what you are looking for but I know they don't have all the records. I was in Scotland in 1994 and found opr records, ( I have the copies) that don't appear in Scotland People online. No one in Scotland told me how that could be.

This past month I was in Edinburgh using the virtual library for kirk session records and here was one parish I couldn't find the CH# for, nor could the person there to help. They were so sure I had the name wrong but I didn't.  Sometimes it is a crap shoot.

I am looking to find the marriage records of Thomas Mctaggart and Jane Briggs ( Broggs) in Cockermouth in 1853.  I am not familar with the process of finding the actual document only found them in indexes. I want to find out if Thomas's parents are listed on the license/certificate.  Can anyone help me as where I go to get a copy of the actual document?
