Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Identity crisis
« on: Friday 15 November 19 00:13 GMT (UK)  »
I was adopted. Did my DNA on ancestry. There are two matches that do not knowingly belong to my birth family. So I wasn’t the only one who was adopted out!!!! I think they are both descendants of my grandfather - and not from the same families! One I think is half-sister of my mother, the other I think could be daughter of a half-sister (another) of my mother. My birth mother was 80 yesterday. I may make her aware. Life is too short. Adoptees usually have suspicions if they haven’t been told. There may be family alive worth contacting. Amazing we can do this these days.

Hi

My brother has asked me to get the death certificates of David and Ann Winks who both died in Worksop in 1870, and wonder if this is the same David and Ann. They both died aged 61.

If so, do you have their death certificates? Thank you

Kincardineshire / Re: Crowe Crow Craw family

Hello

I see you are looking for Crowe family members who have had their DNA tested. Sadly mine won't be of any use to you as I was adopted, so although I am researching the family as ancestors of my mother, my DNA is not connected.

I'm chuffed, as I'm the first to have found Susan's maiden name of all those on genesr

Best wishes

Many thanks for all of this. Maybe Susan Senior died between 1851 and 1861. Can you tell me where you got the last info with the father's names? William Price who married Susan is my g g grandfather.

Northumberland / Tulip family from Bedlington

I have found a family which includes my great great grandmother Susan Tulip as a child of approximately five years old in the 1851 census

Thomas Tulip is father aged 30 b approx 1821 in Winglos Northumberland. The rest of the family were all born in Bedlington - Susan in c 1810, Thomas in c 1843, Susan in c 1846 and Mary in c 1848

I am having problems finding much on this family - they all seem to disappear in the 1861 census, and I can't find births for any of them - or deaths!!

Thomas and Susan (1821 and 1810) presumably married pre 1843 - but no trace.

Any advice please?

Have found possible Mary and Susan as servants in 1861, and think Susan married my g g grandfather William Price in 1868 - but lots of gaps.

Thank you.

Europe / Re: Another grandfather from Poland
« on: Friday 02 April 10 19:02 BST (UK)  »
Thank you very much for this. There must be a connection, but will have to think about what.

My grandfather Alexander was born in Plock, Poland (Plotzke, Russia??!) in about 1896 and it turns out his name at birth was Goldstein, but became Goodyer when he was naturalised in 1919 - he was in the World War in the British Army and I have his naturalisation records.

Not sure why you couldn't put certain info from 1911 census on here, and why I can, but that will remain a mystery.

I will look at the information you have supplied - I couldn't find anyone on the 1911 census with the name which is spelt in so many ways, but there were three siblings to Alexander (who was in Middlesex in 1911 at a correction school) who don't appear to be on the 1911 census -  one called Aaron and another called Becky.

Alexanders parents were Joseph Goldstein and Sarah, who is described on Aaron's birth certificate as formerly Glas - can't get Alexander's birth certificate as he was born in Russia.

Many thanks for your help

Kincardineshire / Crowe Crow Craw family

Hello! I am researching the Crow family - Craw and Crowe also appear! The furthest back I am at the moment is John Craw (Crow) who married Joyce Mitchell in 1781 in Kineff, Kincardineshire. They had four sons, then moved up to Caithness. If anyone can help go further back, please get back to me thanks.

This is a great help Kirsty thank you. I thought it was 72 as well, so to have a second opinion is very helpful. I am sure that the Christian McLeod born to Norman and Sarah would be the same family, so will have another look. Still haven't made the Skye connection - will have to check the detail with my grandmother who is thankfully still alive! (Norman is my GGGG Grandfather!)
