London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / HARRINGTON - Bethnal Green
« on: Thursday 19 January 06 08:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking for any information on Charles (master silk weaver) and Sarah Harrington.

They had a son Francis Harrington b abt Sep 1810 in Bethnal Green, London who emigrated to Australia with his wife Catherine and nephew Charles on 23 Nov 1837.

The only info I have on Charles and Sarah was obtained from Francis' shipping records on arrival in Austalia.

Any help would be appreciated.

Monaghan / KELLY of county Monaghan
« on: Tuesday 22 November 05 11:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for any information on Thomas Kelly and Ann Kiernan or Kernaghan, Keranghrn, Kearnan.  They were both born in Monaghan, Ireland and also married there (approx 1859).  Ann was aged 18 yrs at the time of marriage, so was born approx 1841.  They both emigrated to Australia in approx 1871.

Their two eldest children, Owen b approx 1864 and Catherine b approx 1867, were also probably born in Monaghan.

I would like to get details of the marriage record, and subsequently details of each individuals parents.  Ann's father is listed as - Kearman on her death certificate.

I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks
Tracey

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / HARRINGTON marriage - help needed
« on: Wednesday 28 September 05 12:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have been tracing my family tree in Australia and am up to Francis Harrington b 29 September 1810 (according to shipping records).  He married a Catherine Jessie Roberts in London whose parents were Robert Roberts and Mary.

Francis and Catherine emigrated to Australia (aboard the "Orontes") with their nephew Charles and according to the shipping records Francis' parents were Charles Harrington and Sarah.  Francis was christened in St Matthews, Bethnal Green, London on the 21 Oct 1810.

Francis was a house carpenter and his nephew charles was his apprentice.

I am looking for a record of his marriage to Catherine and also any record of his parents Charles and Sarah, but I'm not sure how to go about it.  Can anyone help me?

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1871 Lookup Request for REED
« on: Wednesday 28 September 05 11:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking for William Francis Reed (b1846/1847) and his wife Emma (b 2 Aug 1850) (nee Fish). According to their daughter's b/c (b in Australia) they were married 20 June 1869 in London.  They both emigrated to Australia prior to 1880.

Can you tell me how to go about obtaining the marriage certificate from England, so I can continue to follow this family line?

Cheers
Tracey  :)

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Newnham Murren or Crowmarsh look up request
« on: Friday 24 June 05 14:29 BST (UK)  »

Who knows, I'm really confused - I mean it could be Thomas and Sarah were the parents - they had a Richard who died before turning 1, one year before the year of my Richard's birth.  Would they name the next child the same as one who had died?  There's also a gap where they didn't have any children according to this between 1834 and 1839, so it could be so.

I think this 16 yr old could be my Richard - the age is certainly right.

So, is there anyone out there with access to the 1841 census?

The Marriage certificate does not list any parents for Richards and the Death Certificate says not known.  I have posted a message on the Oxfordshire lookup request page - appears he was born in Newnham murren - maybe someone can find him there.

Hi,

I have a dead end in Mr Richard Scudds b 7-6-1835 in Newnham Murren.  I can find no record of his birth using the net, so am hoping someone out there might help me.

He left England for Australia in 1855 on the ship Constitution, and from here on I have alot of detail, but prior to this he seems to be non-existant.  His parents are listed as not known on his death certificate.

I have located another Richard Scudds who i think may be his father.  This richard b 1810 in Wallingford, but living in Newnham Murren at the 1861 census, married to Mary b 1810  They had son charles b1841 in Crowmarsh living with them at the time.

There were a few Scudd's born around the same time and in either Newnham Murrenn or Crowmarsh as my Richard that may be brothers and sisters.  Israel b 1828 Newnham, Thomas b 1843, Sarah b 1836 Oxfordshire, John b 1828 Wallingford, James 1841 b Crowmarsh, elizabeth b1829 Crowmarsh, Benjamin b 1833 Oxfordshire.

I've spent alot of time trying to establish a link, but getting nowwhere and I'm not sure what to do now - this is all the information I have.

Frustrated. ???

My mum has researched our family tree quite a few years ago now.   Her information says that I am a descendant of Richard Scudds b 7/6/35 in Berkshire, who arrived in Australia on the ship 'Constitution' in 1855.  I am trying to take the next step in verifying who his parents were, but I am struggling just to find a record of him never mind his parents.  Can anyone help?

The other details I have of him are:

married Phebe Ann Harvey 21/7/1868 at Mudgee NSW
Died 16/6/1917 at age 82 at Dubbo

Harry,

Thanks for your help with this.

The first Richard and Elizabeth look to be likely candidates.  How do I get the birth certificate of  Richard Scudds born 7/6/1835 to verify the link ?
