Thanks My Luck for you offer.

I'd be grateful for any light you can throw on the subject. I recall that Nobber is in County Meath and maybe some information could be gleaned from local records in that area.

Hi there My Luck
As mentioned, my grandmother Mary Anne Seery (nee Brady) was daughter of Walter Brady who in turn was related to Patrick Brady, who was Margaret's father...I haven't been able to discover if they were brothers or cousins.  I do know that the family were originally from Nobber and were native speakers in past times.

So many pieces of the jigsaw always seem to be missing.

Hi there My Luck
The Daniel Seery you asked about was my Uncle ( my mother's brother) and Mary Anne Seery was my grandmother. Dan and his brother Walter lived at 12 Corporation Street in Dublin's north inner city. Dan trained as an upholsterer and Walter trained as a farrier (blacksmith). Initially, they emigrated to Canada and about the time of the great depression they split up with Dan moving to the States and Walter stayed in Canada, living most of his life in Montreal.  Dan married an English lady called Agnes O Rourke and Walter married a French Canadian woman called Corrine? They both had children some of whom still live in America and Canada.

Hi Jessica

You're nearly there with your postings, one more contribution and we can e-mail privately. As I mentioned the Seery clan is long-tailed and you will have some fun making your family tree from scratch. How well did you know your grandfather Walter? Did you ever meet Dan or any of his family?
I'm excited at the prospects of helping you set off on your voyage of discovery. keep in touch. Shiraz :

Hi Jessica
My mother Kathleen Connolly (nee Seery) was a sister of both Walter (Senior) married to Corrinne and Dan Seery married to Agnes. If you fulfill the necessary criteria of posting to Roots Chat we can then communicate by personal e-mail. I will be happy to assist you in any way I can with your family research. I knew personally both Walter & Dan as they were my uncles. As you probably know, the original Seery family Mary Ann (nee Brady, the mother) was a long tailed family. With about 8 children if memory serves me right...all passed away. There's plenty of stories waiting to be told. Shiraz .

Richard & Elizabeth had a number of children they were Michael, Mary, John, Richard and Ellen. As I mentioned at the beginning, it's Richard the father's origins that I am interested in finding out about. This refers to the period prior to 1840 when his father William signed the lease for the smallholding at Ovidstown. In that year Richard would have been about 6 years old.

As you can see Michael & Mary were brother and sister and the possible godparents of John.

Michael Connolly was a son of Richard |Connolly and he married Mary Ellis in the Star of the Sea Church Sandymount on 1 July 1878. He was my grandfather and they had 16 children, not all of whom survived childhood. Shiraz

Hi Dathai
I think they may have been brother and sister to John. I have Michael listed as being born 1854 and Mary 1859 as children of Richard & Elizabeth Connolly.

Aghadowney:
Richard was R.C. Family folklore suggests that prior to moving to Ovidstown, they may have lived in the Monasterevan area of Kildare. But I have never been able to verify that information.
