Again, thanks for this, Skoosh.  Approximately how many Brodies are listed in the Bathgate Mortality Records and how much detail for each.  I’m wondering whether or not to buy it, especially since my interests lie in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Regards,   Peter

Thanks for the info Skoosh.

I was unaware of these records on-line. Can you please provide a link?

I Googled Bathgate Mortality Records, found a link, but when I tried to access it, they told me it been de-accessed for copyright reasons.

Thanks,    Peter

I am looking for the parents of James Brodie b. abt 1804 in West Lothian d. 10 Dec 1847, Bathgate.

Married Mary Wilson, dau. of William Wilson and Elizabeth Rule, 1823

 Children:

James Brodie 1826 – 1894
John Brodie 1829 – 1883
Robert Brodie 1831 –

My grandmother was a Brodie, and I have many Brodies in my tree. I am trying to connect this James to my ancestors.      Peter

I have now looked into this further and it seems to be a complete error in Ancestry that is repeated in various counties.  Presumably someone pressed the wrong key and put in Curry Rivel for all of them.  If you google "curry rivel cambridgeshire" you get a discussion on another forum where others have had similar problems with it cropping up out of the blue.
As the Curry Rivel index is online it is easy to see that the marriage was not there.
Hope that makes sense.
There is another thread that shows this problem too

Thanks for the clarification, sillgen, it will save me a lot of time, not having to try and find a Curry Rivel in Cambridgeshire!  http://www.rootschat.com/forum/Smileys/christmas/grin.gif

Happy New Year,   Peter

Rachel Marshall was buried in Stapleford 24 April 1823 age 76 which would make her bn around the same time as John.

Not sure who you are referring to here Rosie. I have my GGG GM, Rachel (Squires) Marshall (b. ~1750 -) who married John Marshall who I have b. or. c. 29 Mar 1746 in Stapleford. At this point, I’m unable to locate my source.

I am suggesting that perhaps this is the burial of your Rachel bn c1847.

Rosie

Yes, Rosie, I finally figured it out – thank you! What was your source?

Also, today, I got a Marshall reply on Ancestry’s Message Boards in which you might be interested:

How are you connected to the Marshall/Elbourn/Dean line?

Can't see that marriage in the Curry Rivel index.  The church there is St Andrew.  I think there must have been a transcribing error somewhere.   A long way from Cambridge.   Where did you find it?

Here’s the complete record and link from Ancestry – I’ve seen a similar reference several times

Thanks  sillgen, I found that one, but I’m interested in the reference in the Cambridgeshire Records that refers to  (Marriages at Curry Rivel, 1642 to 1812.)
