Channel Islands Lookup Requests / Elizabeth Dupre, wife of John (Jean) Frecker
« on: Sunday 05 October 14 06:38 BST (UK)  »
I would appreciate any information on Elizabeth Dupre, first wife of John (Jean) Frecker. My information has Elizabeth being born in Guernsey on 26 April 1744 (baptised on 27 April). She married John Frecker (b. 13 July 1737, Gosport, Hampshire. d. 16 April 1812, St Peter Port, Guernsey). They married on 27 August 1761 in Westminster, London. They had 8 children, all born in St Peter Port except for eldest child, John (born in London). Elizabeth died in St Peter Port on 09 November 1779.

I would be particularly interested in any details of her parents.

Thanks kingskerswell. My 2 x Great Grandmother was Esther Darling, born in Kinawley in 1807. I don't know who her parents were. Could well  be related to your Robert Darling.

Dublin / Waters and Walsh(e) Families of Dublin

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has information on the surnames Waters and Walshe from Dublin city, Dublin. I am particularly interested in the descendants and ancestors of Richard Frederick Waters, who died in Sandymount in 1862. He was a Church of Ireland clergyman in the parishes of St Peter's and St Mark's, according to http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/. His wife was Lucinda Walshe, born in Dublin in 1831, the daughter of a James Walshe. I believe Lucinda was related to a Francis Lucas Cadwallader Walshe (her brother ?).

Thanks,

Drew Hayes - Melbourne, Australia.

Leitrim / Hayes and Darling Families of Cavan and Fermanagh (and Leitrim)

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has information on the surnames Hayes and Darling from the Breandrum, Carn, Kildallan areas of Cavan. These locations are south of the road between Ballyconnell and Belturbet. My Hayes family - names Jeremiah and Francis - farmed this land in the late 1700's to mid-1800's. They married into the Darling family, who I believe originally came from Fermanagh - in the area of Kinawley and Lisnaskea.

According to Griffiths and the 1901 Census, there were a few Darling and Hayes families in Cavan and I am wondering if they may all be related, even though some were Catholic, and others, including mine, were Church of Ireland. Dare I say, I believe that some may have changed to being Church of Ireland as it may have been advantageous to do so at the time.

These families may also be present in County Leitrim, as the county border is not far away.

Thanks,

Drew Hayes - Melbourne, Australia.

Hi Fern68,

I notice one of your interests is the surname Ruse in Guernsey. My Great Great Grandmother was Sarah Northcot Ruse, born in Devon, but lived, married and died in Guernsey.

How are you related to the Ruse family in Guernsey ?

Regards, Drew in Melbourne

Does anyone have any information on Jeremiah Hayes (1806-1882), a farmer, his wife Esther Hayes nee Darling, and children Francis Thomas Hayes, Susannah Edith Hayes and Jane Hayes. I am aware that Jane was born in Breandrum, Kildallan, Cavan in 1847.

I would be grateful if anyone had any leads on this family.

Thanks, Drew Hayes - Melbourne, Australia
