Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Durham Record Office - Tanfield & Lanchester PRs
« on: Sunday 01 August 21 12:24 BST (UK)  »
Thank you Both for your input.

I had liked the idea of Robert & Sarah as it fitted in with daughter Katherine baptism a few months after their marriage however there is the possbility she had a brother baptised March 1720 per DROL. Both records are from St Mary Magdalene, Medomsley, only show fathers name & nothing else.

Two other things make me think Robert & Sarah aren't right parents 1) there is no daughter/grand-daughter of Katherine called Sarah although to be fair I've only found sons but there are grand-daughters 2) the Blackburns tended to be pitmen so Robert having a will & Sarah marrying a Gentleman doesn't seem right but not, of course, impossible just improbable!

Hi Boo
Thank you & Janis for your replies - had a lovely day out yesterday with a friend, managed to stay dry!!

Thank you for info re Ann Jobling & Mum Mary Wilkinson.  I too have copy of marriage in 1809, as you say hope more info from Woodhorn; hopefully one day I'll visit there again.

Re John Jobling/Anne Morrow - they were married 16/12/1787 @Stamfordham. Seen in BT for Stamfordham with more detail at Ncle Central Library PR for Stamfordham i.e. Banns & witnesses John Dixon, Isabel Beatty Ann Bains & Robert Jobling.

As you say too many people take everything at face value if it 'fits' - doesn't always work! This is where either a new eye or revisiting can help - never be afraid to question your own info!!

Back to Olympics - I'm a good spectator!
Judith.

Hi Boo
I'm sorry it's taken me a few days to reply. I haven't done any family history for about 18mths as my husband died May 20; a couple of times in last few months I promised myself I'd restart but somehow... I'm hoping that answering your message will re-ignite my enthusiasm but enough of me!

John Jobling 1810 - birth/baptism seen at Newcastle Central Library - 1st son of John & Ann nee Peel, as far as I'm aware he had 1 brother & 2 sisters. Can give more details if you would like them & possibly copies of BT?
John & Ann nee Peel as above
Joseph Peel as above
John m Mary no details re Mary. I have same 3 children but only from 1841c
Ann Peel I have her on 1841c & 1851c, can supply refs if you would like? Would love details if she is confirmed as daughter of John & Mary
My line descends from John Jobling b1810 younger brother Joseph

Hi Graham

Thank you so much for thinking of me. Most of those on the list are mine which is brilliant. :) :)

Can I be cheeky and add the names Sandwick/Watson/Dawson/Wilson if you are also going to do baptisms and marriages as I believe they married into Fleming family?

Thanks again
Judith

Hi patrexjax

Re your reply I agree the number of Gilbert Errington's is very confusing! Have you seen the link
https://archive.org/details/historyofnorthum04nort/page/188

I've been looking at other records but have decided to send this now rather than wait until I've looked at them all to show haven't forgotten you. Will try and reply fully within next few days - subject to tennis (French open), weather (gardening) and hospital visiting (close friend had stroke yesterday).

Hi patrexjax & Catherine

I'll try to reply to you both - Catherine first as shorter!
Catherine
I have a Ridley connection to the Errington's i.e. marriage of Gilbert Errington to Jane Ridley (daughter of Nicholas) c1520 with 4 children but no exact dates for marriage or birth/baptisms -  see   https://archive.org/details/historyofnorthum04nort/page/188
patrexjax
i) John Widdrington - although I have 2 in my tree neither seem to be the the one mentioned.
ii) John Errington married to Dorothy Widdrington I do have. I knew Dorothy was daughter of Edward but not name of mother. John is the son of Gilbert and his first wife Dorothy Carnaby. My line descends through Gilbert and his 2nd wife Grace Rutherford. Children of Gilbert & Dorothy I have 5 children John, Thomas, Nicholas, Mary & Jane - but no dates of baptisms etc. Children of Gilbert & Grace - I have 6, all boys, Richard, Michael, Lancelot, Ralph, Gawen & William but again no dates of baptisms etc although believe they were all between 1597-1605.
If there are exact dates for any of Gilbert's 11 children for Gilbert himself or either of his wives would be brilliant - if not too much to ask - would be brilliant

I am away from early tomorrow (Thursday) to late Monday evening so if you are able to reply to me then I may not get the chance to respond

Family history can be very frustrating but finding new connections certainly makes up for it!

Best wishes to you Both
