Dear Cando and Jenn
Came home from work today and you had continued. Just to let you know I got Shelia's death cert and found out that she had two children Robin and Virginia born 1936 and 1940. They could both be alive at 73 and 69 so I am going to try and find them. West Tamar Historical also contacted and said they are trying to trace Kismet for me. You have both been wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks Jenn and Cando
We knew about the passenger lists and the address in Hampshire is Amy's parents. The death certficate only had one child Shelia mary. I will now pursue her for possible descendants. You have been extraordinarily helpful
Thanks for you good wishes.

Yes Rosa remarried but we don't know when. We assume Charles Anguis died. We know he was dead when Eric married in England in 1921 and we assume he died about 1910. Both sons list their mother as next of kin in WWI. It looks very likely it is Mary Agnes and William in WA. You can be a chemical engineer so he may have been multi talented. It's fascinating that the daughter lived in Millicent Av Toorak as I taught one street away at Loreto Mandeville Hall in the early 1980s. I'm now interested in any descendants of Shelia Mary Brett who may still be alive and in Victoria.
Thank you
Mary

Cando you are amazing. While I was getting the Death Certificate you found out so much more. The death cert was very helpful and told us she married in India age 24. She lived in Victoria for six years and other states for 38 years. We will now try to find out where she lived if anywhere apart from Tasmania. Alister ended up in Sydney after separating from his wife about 1928. Apart from some trips to England to see Eric  and a brief return to the army during WWII, he lived there until his death. Eric after being in the Light Horse went to England and was awarded the MC in 1916 when in the Royal Dorsetshire Reg. He was only 22 at the time. What we are ultimately trying to find out is some info about Charles Angus and Rosa Porter. We don't know how long they were in India and whether they were born there or in England. The Indian records are notoriously difficult as BMDs were not compulsory.
Thank you again.

Thank you to Cando and Jenn.
We have the army records for Alister and Eric. We also had the other sister's baptism in India. I had a gut instinct about McCabe so thanks for nailing the death certificate. Can't believe she was in Victoria when we live here. Her sister in law, Alister's wife, lived in Essendon as do we. You have helped solve a long mystery.
I really appreciate all you have both done.
Mary :)

Eric Angus McAlister Franklin was b in India in 1894. He married Amy Winifred Hearl in England in 1921. His parents were Charles Angus Franklin and Rosa Edith Porter who married in India in 1881. I don't know if they were born in India or England and am currently waiting for marriage info from British Library. He had one brother Alister Blake McAlister Franklin who lived in Australia, Melbourne and Sydney, from 1911 until his death in 1968. He had two sisters, both born India. His youngest sister was Enid Edith Marguerite Franklin b 1900 India. It is his oldest sister, name and birth date unknown, that we think lived at Kismet in 1920s. Eric gave it as his address when in Tasmania for eight months in 1926/7. He also mentioned in a letter that if his mother died he would take his younger sister to his older sister in Tasmania. If you know how to search Tas census  by address I would appreciate it but my look at it shows only suburb not house names. Don't even know the street it is in. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
