Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1851 McGovern John and Ann Liverpool

Hi Robert,

I'm a ggg granddaughter of John McGovern and Ann Pearce through the Yeates/McGovern line. I was delighted to read your post.
Arthur was the younger brother of my great grandfather Frederick John Yeates. Marion, their sister, was the middle child of the family.
I've left you a personal message offering to send copies of certificates. Would love to hear about your connection with the family.

Regards

Lorraine

Antrim / White Abbey Hospice, 32 Crumlin Road

Hi,

Can anyone tell me whether records for patients can be obtained for the White Abbey Hospice?

I have a death certificate for who I believe to be my great aunt who died at the hospice in 1914 aged 10 years. Her name was Annie Taggart and unfortunately there are no details of her parents on the death certificate other than her father was a labourer (which is correct).

She was not living with the family at the time of the 1911 census. I have searched the 1911 census, particularly in Crumlin Road, but cannot find her.

Any suggestions as to where to look next would be most welcome.

Thanks

Lorraine

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Early 20th Century Birth and Death records

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a reference source for births and deaths in Antrim/Down between 1900 and 1915.

On the 1911 census I have identified siblings of my grandparents (both born in Belfast) who were born and died during this period.

Many thanks

Is there a lookup request facility of this version of the Census?

Thanks

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Frederick John Yeates

Hi Tressle,

Thanks for that. I knew a fair amount of the information you sent. My great-grandmother's maiden name was Titherington. I also know about my grandfather's 5 brothers.

However, as I said previously, I did not know the date Frederick enlisted.

Also, I did not have addresses for his brother and sister. I have made contact with Marion's descendants in Australia. Maybe now I know that Arthur went to Boston I might find distant relatives in the USA.

I do have the dates that Marion and Arthur went overseas and it was well after the 1901 census. I have found Arthur in the 1901 census but he was not living with Frederick. He also was a glass bottle maker.

Maybe one day our relatives will emerge from the black hole!

Thanks again.

Lorraine

PS Thanks for the second post. Maybe I have not been able to find him before because his place of birth is incorrect. I'm sure it's him as he was known by the family as John.

Hi Tressle,

You have identified my great-grandfather correctly. I know he enlisted in Liverpool during WW1 but don't know when.

I know where he was in 1881 and then from 1902 onwards. The 21 years in between are the mystery.

The army records I have located for him do not mention my great-grandmother Ada. Which resource did you use ? I have a copy of his death certificate and know where is his buried but no details of where he served, dates etc

Many thanks

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Frederick John Yeates
« on: Wednesday 26 May 10 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone help me solve a mystery?

I know my great grandfather Frederick John Yeates was born in Blackrock, Dublin c1875.
The 1881 English census shows him as John Yates aged 6 born Dublin living in Liverpool with his father Frederick (born Dublin) his mother Gertrude born Liverpool, his 4 year old sister Marion and 1 year old brother Arthur.

I can find no trace of Frederick in the 1891 and 1901 English census. I have found Marion and Arthur living with relatives in 1891 (surname incorrectly spelt ‘Yates’).

I have searched using both names Frederick and John and all variation of the surname spelling.

The options I am left with are that he was either at sea (although he was a glass bottle maker when he married in Liverpool in 1902) or maybe he had temporarily gone to Ireland or elsewhere?  Has anyone any suggestions as to where I can take my search from here?

Thanks

Hi Anne,

I read your post with interest. I have been trying to find further details for my g g grandfather John Bernard Magauran born Cavan, Ireland c1818. Do you have a John Bernard related to your Bernard Magauran?

Thanks
