Hi thanks for your reply, I've seen the 41 census and it certainly looks like 'Brain' and on bmd she died in 1847 also Brain. So born about 1761 tried looking for her marriage etc. to no avail. Thanks for the info and will try again with the names to see if there's a connection ;D

Have been looking at Susanna Brain... Likely a relative, have tried looking for her as Mary's mother or Williams mother but remarried. No hit's at all. On 1851 census both Mary and William state N.K Salop and later on 1861 census Mary is a widow and states ludlow as place of birth... Have looked at Shropshire but without any luck..... ??? any ideas??

Northumberland / Re: civil cemetery records ??? help

Hi Beryl, yes please to the photo's. It was me via "in from the cold" and their help and expertise combined with my research that got John commemorated on CWGC... I would love to go back and visit his grave. He is remembered locally at St Martin's Talke. My GGGrandmother was Sarah Archer so I think John's and Samuel's Aunt, have more details of John as I have been in touch with a relative of his wife if you are interested, also a picture of him and his brother who also died ww1... Need to have a look at my tree again to refresh my memory. Is there a white grave stone yet??? Thanks so much Nel
