Hi SallyP
I am researching a John Ballantine  and Janet Johnston wo married in Muirkirk in 1798. I cannot find deaths records for either and hope that you could do a lookup if thats possible Also I am looking for parents of those 2 and hope there is something attached to the marriage register or death register I know they moved about a bit but I am hoping that she maybe moved back to her hometown when she got old to be near family. The marriage date is may,20,1798 Anything you could find out would be wonderful.
Thanks Mac

Ayrshire / Ballantines in Ayrshire and Lanarkshire

Hi.
I am the descendant of Robert Ballantine (b1838 in Kilmaurs) He married Mary Miller in Kilmarnock in 1868 and promptly moved to Canada to join his brother John(b1836) who had married Janet Barclay and moved to Canada in 1865. They lived in the Galt, Preston (now Cambridge) area of Ontario. In 1870 Robert and Mary moved to accept a land grant in Muskoka Ontario and started a village called Grassmere. Roberts parents were Thomas(b1805 in Old Monkland Lanark) and Susanah Strachan(b1811 in Riccarton Ayr) They were married in 1829 and she had 6 living children. Thomas died in 1876 in Dreghorn and Susanah died in Dreghorn in 1889. we also know that Thomas' parents were John and a Janet Johnston who were married in Muirkirk Ayr in 1798.
Does anyone know of this family?
If you are researching them as well or have information regarding them, please reply
Thanks Mac

Hello my name is Mac Ballantine and I am new on roots chat. My brother and I have been researching out family for a number of years. The main problem i see is verifying information. Any way My  great gradfather was Robert Ballantine of Ayrshire Scotland He was born in 1838 in Kilmaurs Scotland and married Mary millar in Kilmarnock in 1868 and then moved to Canada. After living in the Galt ,Preston(now Cambridge) area of Ontario with his brother John he moved with his family to Grassmere Muskoka Ontario on a land grant. I guess my question is this. Is anyone else reasearching this family? We have a lot of great info and we are pretty sure its right but  it would be great to be able to share and work with someone else who's interested in the same family. If you wish to contact me please email me at (*)
Thanks Mac
