Canada / Re: IVESON - STENTON, CLARA,JARVIS & PAXTON
« on: Friday 02 September 11 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Hi JJ, Does that mean just in Vancouver or all of Canada?.
I know we had relaltives in canada during the war my mum (then a small girl) remembers her mum getting a letter from their relatives in Canada offering to look after her and her sister to keep them safe in Canada. Grandma refused to let the girls go in case she never saw them again. Grandmas mum was Stentons sister .This could have been Jarvis who offered to take them as he would have been my granmas age. Thanx Rox

Hi Valerie, yes that is probably so as he is on the 1901 census but not on the 1911. He maybe pops back to marry Clara Jane Slater .
He comes from a seafaring background in Hull so that links in very nicely although his father is running a fruiters business at the time of the later census's. I have a marvellous photo of Stenton looking very dapper in a suit with wing collared shirt taken when he was a young man with his mum and sisters, It is so nice to unravel his life and where he dissapeared to.
Thank you for that info it is great to have it. Thanx Rox

Stenton Iveson b abt :1881 Hull england .emigrated to Canada in 1911. He was married to Clara Slater b abt:1891 England and had a son JARVIS b:27th dec 1913 in Vancouver .
They travel several times back to england and their return address in Canada is Mrs Paxton - Claras sister- 1366 (down as 3566 on stentons) Kingsway. Vancouver. We have lost touch with this branch of the family & I would love to get in touch .
Stenton is sometimes spelt Stanton and Clara has a middle name Jane which is sometimes used. On one of the trips Clara visits her mum who is down as living in London at the time. thanks Rox

Hi ,Gosh this bandwagon is getting bigger. Could I be cheeky also and ask for a look up ?.
My Great Granpa was a Richard (fendley) Cleveland and when he retired he was a Detective Inspector
I understand he joined the police force in 1900 and his number was 42.
I would love to know if there would be any pics and when he retired ?.
Thanx Rox.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: Ada Giddy Maxey Wright Burial help?
« on: Sunday 21 June 09 14:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi and thank you to everyone for your replies.
I have been to Louth to have a look and found our after it closed that the council offices at the town hall have a map of the cemetry ,which is off London Rd . It would appear that a car park has been built over one of the graveyards but I was told that the stones had been moved to the London Rd one.So I shall try getting hold of a copy of that before my next trip. Btw what a gorgeous little place Louth is.!!. The museum guy was really helpful too. I shall also have a look at the sites you have listed too. I am still learning so its great to learn where to look for things. Thanx Rox
