Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: Deboo
« on: Tuesday 28 May 19 18:15 BST (UK)  »
I’ve just come across a potential Abraham Deboo ancestor near Whittlesey from the late 18th century but can’t seem to find much out about them online. I’m guessing spelling varied a bit with pronunciation (though I’m not sure what else to look up).

His daughter appears to have married George Watson in Whittlesey St. Mary in November 1810.

Has anyone else any clues?

Many thanks!

Hi, I've only just stumbled across this, but thought I'd add that I'm also descended from the same William & Martha Holland, through their last child Fanny (1822-1882)'s second marriage (to Thomas Hill in 1853).

Hi List,

I am also distantly related, as I am descended from the other William mentioned in the 29 Apr 10 posting:

Submitted IGI entry which indicates somebody else is researching the same family
William Crowson   Birth:  1825   Helpston, Northampton  Death:  05 JAN 1891
Spouse:  Elizabeth Lemmons    Marriage:  04 JUL 1847   Helpston, Northampton, England

This William's father, John, was another son of John Crowson & Mary Bullimore of Helpston.

Would therefore be good to hear of any further connections.

Colin,

I wonder whether you've got a Shele/Shelah Charman (born c.1705) in your records who married a Mary Lesseter and had a son called Richard baptised in Slinfold, West Sussex, in 1744?

If so, I'd be interested anything more about them, but particularly whether Shelah appears to be a family name, or whether there's likely to be a Jewish connection?

Many thanks.

Mary was William's mother; Ann was George's mother.  Both women were (I believe) daughters of William Holes, and came from Offley; and neither Ann nor Mary appear to have been married when they gave birth (hence the Hitchin/Luton Union workhouse references).
