Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Fraser or vicEan duie vicConil vicRoy

Hello from Australia.  I am a descendant of Frasers from Wester Clunes..William Fraser born 1799 Kiltarlity and his wife Helen Fraser. Born Kiltarlity 180 3 They are my 2xggrandparents.  I have been researching their line and visited their graves at Wardlaw 2019  I have been searching for Williams ancestors three brothers all born Kilvarock Hugh 1723 Donald 1721 and Alexander 1727 killed at Culloden.   Williams father was Peter Fraser (aka Miller) Cawdor Nairn  born 1765.  His father was James Fraser born Kilvarock  Croy 1724.  He is only surviving brother after the deaths at  Culloden  Now interestly as to your post James' father was Alexander McIan or Fraser born 1695  at Kilvarock Croy.  I  am also puzzled by name change.  I got details through family trees family search looking for the names of the three brothers which I did not know. I now do and would love to know more of them . I wonder if James was possibly at the battle but survived.  Can anyone please shed any light on the name change or the brothers?

Hello from Australia.  I visted Culloden in 2019 with daughter and adult grandson and it was a  very moving experience for all of us as we have three Fraser brothers ancestors killed at Culloden.  I have only just found out their first names.  They were born Kilvarock....Alexander in 1727, Donald 1721 and Hugh 1723.  Their surviving brother James my 4 xggrandfather was born in 1725.  Their father was Alexander Fraser or McIan born 1695 Kilvarock. Mother unknown . Their parents died in 1740. This information is as accurate as far as I know.  I do not know how to find them listed in the battle  as I am unfamiliar with places there or how they may be listed.  I am wondering if there is any way to know if James was at the battle with his brothers and survived.  James descendants are buried. at Wardlaw Kirkhill.  Would anyone be able to help me find out anything about them please.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / John Rushton/ Frances Robinson

Hello everyone from Oz.  I have found a web site that has seems to have some information on my ggg grandmothers line.  It says that my ggg grandmother Frances Rushton (married William Cash in 1814 in Redbourne Lincs) is the daughter of a John Rushton and a Frances Robinson who married in 1789.  It does not say where. May I please have a look up to see if anything is known of them at all,  Thank you so much if you can help.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Samel Cummins/ Eliza Harbird 1861 census
« on: Friday 02 August 13 09:09 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone, I am trying to track Samuel Cummins born 1828 Middlesex (son of Hannah and Samuel) and his wife Eliza Harbird (daughter of William) after the 1861 census. (St John's, City of Westminster)  I do not know if they had children and they were married in 1852 I think in London.  I would like to know if they had children and when they died if possible. Most of his family including siblings were transported to Tasmania, Australia, so he may have emigrated later.  Not sure of anything.  May i request a lookup to see if they can be found.  Thank you.

Mayo / Re: Hannah O'Maley/O'Maley

Thank you. I am now, thanks to all convinced that Amilia is the surname I should be looking for.  Some of her records are O'Maley but I see the corruption and difficulty in her having any control over the spelling being unable to read or write.

Can Hannah have had Samuel so young, I think she was born in 1813...married in 1827...  On census she is 25 and he is 13......hmmmm

Thank you Heywood...On her convict report it says she is Catholic but only states Mayo County.  According to same record she can neither read or write, so can see confusion over name.  Amilia is not on her record but seems to be attached to her in other places so must have come from somewhere.  Some early Australian certs have info but it is only as good as the informant.  Also if she wished to remarry, she only had to say Samuel was dead and she would have been put down as a widow.  I have come across all that misinformation tangle on another branch of my family. Is the school they were sent to in London similar to an orphanage.  She was tried in 1846 and transported in 1847.
