World War One / Re: Who is Cecil Babington BRANSON?
« on: Wednesday 08 April 15 03:44 BST (UK)  »
I see a Cecil Branson born in Scotland 1883 and that is the only one 1880-1890. I wonder if he later cut his age down to enlist?

More than likely Barry - so many of my NZ lot either put theirs up or down to qualify, so I guess the UK lot did as well. Would you beable to possibly send me the particulars of that birth please?
I would really appreciate it.
Cheers, Glen

I would appreciate a fresh approach, a new pair of eyes and someone who can access UK records to help me unravel this cousin please.
In particular his WW1 involvement, but any verified info gratefully received.
Many thanks, Glen

World War One / Re: British Army Unit request please

Are you sure it isn't Rail (as in Railway) Company?  8th Railway Company served in France and Flanders.

Your reply made me re-visit his records and on a higher zoom I now am pretty sure it is Rail not Rad. So thank you maxD.
Cheers, Glen

Probably Regimental Aid Detachment, (RAD) usually Light Aid Detachment (LAD) Workshops Company.

James

Thank you for your prompt reply James. After reading MaxD's comment, I re-visited the original copy (on a higher zoom) and I'm pretty sure that it reads Rail, not Rad as I originally thought.
But thank you anyway.
Cheers, Glen

If you are looking for his service records check Discovering our ANZACS site it has a William Garry who seems to fit.  You can read his whole record.

Thank you so much Nanna.
