Hi,
I am trying to trace my husbands Welsh relatives, but I'm having a bit of a nightmare. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful. This is the info. I have so far for Lewis/Davis:
WILLIAM T. LEWIS b. 13.9.1863, Merthyr. d.9.12.1907. Father Thomas Lewis, Coal Miner.
MARY DAVIS/ DAVIES b. 19.12.1866, Neath d.25.1.1911. Father Thomas Davies, Coal Miner.
These married on 25.12.1886 at Silea Chapel? Merthyr Tydfil.
Children: THOMAS b. 14.10.1887 WILLIAM J. b.28.11.1888
DAVID MORGAN b.25.6.1890 HANNAH b.15.6.1891 IDRIS b. 30.5.1893 JENNET ANN b.13.4.1895 ELIZABETH b.21.6.1896 GOMER b.23.7.1898 MAGDALEN b. 6.10.1900 ELFRYN b.22.1.1903, my husband's father.
At the time of their marriage, Thomas was living at Mountain Road, Cwmaman and Mary was living at Aman Court, Cwmaman.
I have them on 1891 census at 22 Oxford St, Ystradyfodwg.Glam and in 1901 at 6 Wordsworth St, Aberdare, Glam.
I'm having problems finding any earlier information on either of them.
Then there's the other side of my husbands family, Richards and Roberts. Here's what I have so far:
WILLIAM JOHN RICHARDS b. 8.12.1880 Llanrhidian Higher? d. 9.2.1969 in London, Colliery Timberman. Father David , Plate Layer.
SARAH HANNAH ROBERTS b. 3.6.1881 Father Daniel, Collier.
These married on 14.4.1906 at Noddfa Welsh Baptist Chapel, High St., Ynysybwl.
Children:CERIDWEN b.10.4.1907 WALLACE b.11.1.1909 d.13.9.1941 in Canada GLYNIS b.12.5.1911, my husband's mother, DAVID b. 9.5.1913 ENID b. 11.5.1917 and ARTHUR b. 15.1.1924
At the time of their marriage William lived at 131 Robert St., Ynysybwl and Sarah was living at 102 Robert St., Ynysybwl.
I think I have William on 1881 census at Blue Anchor Terrace and 1891 at 135 Band Row? Llanhidian Higher? with siblings:
Elizabeth, Ann, Thomas,Hannah, Harriet, Margaret and Alice.
I also think I have Sarah on 1891 census at 91 Robert St. Ynysybwl with siblings:
G? David, Mary and Maggie.
Again I can't find anything earlier.
I do know that William was imprisoned during the general strike, but can't find out any details.
As I have already mentioned, any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry if I have got any of the Welsh names wrong, us English aren't very good with these.
Sandra.
