Yorkshire (West Riding) / Which cemetery ?
« on: Monday 05 April 10 16:21 BST (UK)  »
I have the death reg. for a baby in June 1899. The baptism for the baby is March 1899 at St.John the Baptist church on Penistone Road. The childs address was Broughton Road. Could anyone tell me where she would have been buried as I don't think that church had a grave yard. Many thanks for any help

Lancashire / manchester burials
« on: Wednesday 31 March 10 15:54 BST (UK)  »
I have found several family members on the Manchester burial site but I'm a bit confused about the pricing structure of looking further. It states that a "bundle " of 4 credits costs £12. Does that mean each search is £3 per person or per grave ? What information will it give ?  I can't afford £ 3 each body Excuse the pun !

The Common Room / Death Reg.
« on: Saturday 27 February 10 15:54 GMT (UK)  »
Would a death be registered without a body ?  I have just discovered a Gt Gt Grandfather was in a boating accident and possibly lost at sea. I can not find a burial, fair enough, but I can't find a death reg. for him either. This was off the Lincolnshire coast, another member of the family in the same accident had the death reg. in Norfolk presumably where the body was found. I just wondered about registration for bodies lost at sea.

The Common Room / Birth Registration.
« on: Tuesday 09 February 10 13:31 GMT (UK)  »
I have been wondering how people in small villages registered a birth, did the registrars travel around the country ?  On the Birth Certificate for my GT. Grandfather DOB 1 / 6 / 1871 the day of registration is the same day with his Mother being the informant  Surely the poor woman didn't have to get out of bed after just giving birth to go and register the birth.

Trying to find my husbands uncle Frederick William Wichman, might have changed it to Wickman. DOB 1901 in Sheffield. Son of Charles Edward and Sarah Ann (Coward )  He could have been a policeman in Sheffield. Thank you for any help
