Hi apologies if i posted in wrong area. im after William Darling's parents and birth details if possible.
William Darling married Elizabeth Cawood in 1770 in Kellington, he was from parish of Bulmer.

i know they moved to Castleford around the marriage time as there children all 4 were all born in Castleford, they also died and buried in All saints Castleford.

from the marriage and death entries , approx birth is around 1742-46.
I dont know about William but his children and there descendants were mostly mariners/master mariners on the Aire and Calder navigation.

many thanks in advance Weenie

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Thorogood Slingsby died 1789 where is he from ?
« on: Monday 02 January 17 00:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hi ,

So i find my 6th gt grandfather is Thorogood Slingsby, through my 5th gt grandmothers baptism Mary Slingsby 1752 of Armley, Leeds.

i cannot find anything on Thorogood Slingsby, apart from him named on his daughters baptisms, #

Mary 1752 Armley and Rachel 1754 St Peters, Leeds, although states Armley Chapel. so i presume he comes from Armley Area.
i have his burial at St Barts, Armley 23 Jan 1789 of Wortley.

where does he come from ? a very unusual name , i would have thought a baptism of some sort?

any help greatly appriciated

Hi all, i hoping to get a bit of help on getting further back on my 4th gt gandfather please,

William Dobson b 1803c. in York, to John Dobson b 1777C. York, they appear on the 1851 census, in High Hungate York, with William children, both are widowed. now i know William wife is Ann Bland, and i believe to be her death in 1849 (awaiting cert). but i cannot get further back with them both.

i think i may have found Ann on the 1840 census, but im unsure as William isnt with her, and only 4 of her children Sarah, Ann Eliza and William.

any help would be greatly appreciated many thanks

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Robert Holroyd/oldroyd marriage is very puzzling
« on: Sunday 22 March 15 22:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all im after a bit of help is possible please?

Robert Oldroyd b1758 to Joseph Oldroyd,Sandal Wakefield. i have him marrying Sally Airedale b 1770-1801 in Bradford 1788, i know this is far off, but there is no other i can find, and this is where it gets puzzling.  i have births for Esau Holroyd to parents Sarah and Robert of criggleston. b1791 - 1882 and Rebecca Oldroyd (my line) 1799- 1831 crigglestone. these are at West Gate Presbyterian, Wakefield, baptisms. now according to my findings and both Esau and Rebecca have children named Sarah and found a death of Sarah Oldroyd in Sandal Magna in 1801 spouse is listed as Robert criggleston.

is possible Sally is Sarah ?...... but then there is this......

there is a baptism in sandal magna st helens for a Joseph Holdroyd 25 dec 1818, to parents robert and sarah holdroyd. how can this be if Sarah/sally has died in 1801?

then in 1825 Robert married Marth Horner, spinister at Sandal Magna st helens. on select parish registers gives her birth as 1804...

they then have William baptised 16 Jan 1828 died 1836 Sandal magna st helens parents robert and martha.

Robert dies in 1839 and is buried at Sandal magna of crigglestone.

i think Martha is on the 1841 + census as widow and washer woman living in Stanley.

so if Sally Sarah ? and who can Joseph be is there another set of Robert and Sarah/Sally?

i cant find a sarah /Sally airedale birth nor can i find another set of robert and sarah.......

roberts father i think is also called Joseph

any help greatly appriciated

many thanks

hi all, ive managed to try sort some of the Jones's out and now im after trying to see if a marriage and burial/death exists.

stay with me its complicated.....

John Jones b1810 married Mary Thomas b 1805 in 1833 Mold, flint. they have children Peter 1836-1842 Elizabeth 1841- 1863 and Owen 1838 -1888 all baptised and living at New Street Mold, John occupation is Bricklayer journeyman/mason. now all the census upto 61 has them at New Street, in 63 Elizabeth dies of menigitus address New Street, informant is Elzabeth -Owens' wife living at New Street.

in 1871 census Owen and his own family are at Garden Place, he is plumber and glazier, but in 1881 he back at New Street.

John dies in 1874 found by a fellow Roots chat for me a while ago and is buried in Mold, address New Street.

now looking at New Street there is a John Jones who is a bricklayer with a Elizabeth Jones b 1834 and a daughter Annie E jones - i beleive is Jane Elizabeth b 1869 (1870 on census).
then John dies, in 1881 Elizabeth Jones is living at Garden Place with Jane E 1870 and Annie M Jones b1873. Now all the same details match Elzabeth with John in said 71 census. so it must be same Elizabeth.

i have found the two baptisms for the children and agan both baptised in Mold both say New Street, both say Mason for dad, and parents are John and Elizabeth.

The children Peter, Elizabeth and Owen all buried in Mold, same as dad John.... but i cant seem to find mum Mary....

now i also try to find marriage for John to Elizabeth sometime between 1861 and 1871... any help greatly appriciiated

the second child to John and Elizabeth is Annie Mary Harrison Jones, could Harrison be her mums maiden name? there is an age difference between John and Elizabeth

hope your not as confused as i have been
