Cork / Searching for a grave In dunbullogue Cemetry near Cork City
« on: Sunday 27 January 13 18:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,I wonder can anyone help me?

I visited this cemetery this week but despite having a copy of the register downloaded from corkarchives.ie I was unable to locate the grave I was looking for.

Lillian Costello died 19 May 1972 and was interred 20 may 1972

There were a small number of unmarked graves so I am wondering is there a way of finding out coordinates so I can know for sure which grave it is,and if it is shared etc?

It is also completely possible i missed the grave. It was VERY COLD lol.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Lenc

the irish free genealogy ebook blog particularly is excellent.

tbh i had no intention of buying one until  wife asked for one for her birthday,so i ended up buying two!!

hi

i would like to hear other peoples opinions of the new iPad mini.

i have just treated myself to an early pressie from santa and i am delighted with it.

its just the right size to carry around, and yet big enough to read comfortably all those e-books and pdf documents  i have been meaning to read for months

i can also easily and quickly scan through my GRO scans  etc so i always have them with me

my family tree on ancestry comes up beautifully

so what do you guys think?

is the ipad mini the ideal genealogists working tool?

Ireland / Irish Drivers Licences and Car Vehicle registrations
« on: Thursday 01 November 12 14:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

does anyone know how to go about looking for records of old irish drivers licences etc?

would these be in Nat Archives or elsewhere?

motor tax or vehicle registration records could be interesting too couldn't they?

.

that's correct yes.apparently this badge was given to every passenger leaving dublin on the "devonia" ship sailing for italy to honour the soon-to-be-canonized st martin de porres of peru.

it seems they got an audience with the pope.

There is an article in a newspaper, which can be found be searching this site.

http://archive.catholicherald.co.uk/

i don't know yet which of my family were on the ship, but seemingly there were over 700 from dublin alone, the trip organised by albert coffey travel agent,a brother of one of the priests who travelled fr louis coffey a dominican father who organised the irish pilgrims

it waqs 1962,so hopefully i can find a record somewhere of the passengers who travelled.perhaps even someone on here travelled?

thanks myluck!

seems to have been run by the RDS though they dont seem to have any records of the event.

does anyone have any ideas about how i might research further?

i would dearly love to find a list of exhibitors and perhaps even prizes won.

in the prospectus there is mentioned a catalogue but nli dont have one for this year.

i know from the prospectus that one arnold graves was one of the main organisers and hon sec of the committee.

following the success of this exhibition it was decided to open the first technical school in dublin.
