Hello there, Thanks for your email I have had a look at the two names you gave me but they didn’t appear on my Ancestry DNA matches. Somewhere in this McAssey Family line there is a match to my gg.grandmother, Ellen/Eleanor McAsey. My DNA match from Melbourne is descended from this family.

Michael McAsey 1775 - 1887/ Mary Nolan 1788 - ???
Son Thomas McAsey 1812 - 1897/ Elizabeth Walshe 1814 - 1882
Children of Thomas and Elizabeth:-
Michael McAsey 1839 - 1923
James McAsey 1840 - 1916
John McAsey 1845 - 1907
Maria McAsey 1845 - 1926
Elizabeth McAsey 1849 - 1932
Richard McAsey 1851 - ???
Thomas McAsey 1853 - ???
This family is on Ancestry. Hope this is of some help.
Kind Regards
Carol

Cork / Crowley
« on: Friday 25 September 20 05:38 BST (UK)  »
Looking to find parents or siblings for Julia Crowley born about 1837 in Cronody, Cork. She married Jeremiah Callaghan on the 9th March, 1862, Julia died on the 24th January, 1911. In the 1911 census Julia’s g.nephew Jeremiah is living with the Callaghan family presumably after the death of his mother in 1907. Jeremiah’s grandmother is Ellen Dennehy née Crowley so I am assuming that Ellen and Julia were sisters.

Don’t know how I managed to miss your post for the marriage date for Thomas and Ellen. Think I was focused on the Bridgets. Really pleased to finally have Thomas and Ellen’s date of marriage. The pieces of the puzzle are slowly starting to fall into place. Thanks again for all your help.

Oh! So it looks like there were 2 Bridgets. I wonder if there were anymore children born between Bridget and Thomas.

Hello Noland01, I have found a Baptism for a Bridget Conway on the 22nd March 1857 daughter of Thomas Conway and Ellen McAsey in Balleyellen. Went back and had a look on John Conway’s Baptismal record in 1864 and one of the sponsors was a Maria McAsey. I wonder if she was a sister of Ellen’s.

Kind Regards

Thomas and Anne Conway named their house in Brisbane, Goresbridge. I agree it is likely that Thomas’s father was probably a Thomas too and Ellen’s a John. The families seemed to pass on the same Christian names down through the generations. I did not come across any Conways in my searches of the records although I did see Carrolls,  Barrons, Keoghs and Brophys who are also
part of my family tree.

Kind Regards
