Hi there,
Don't know if this will be any help but I have been researching the name Breingan. They are mainly in the Perthshire and Clackmannanshire area and have found that within the same family the spelling of the name varies from record to record.
I have found Breingan recorded as Braynion, Brainion, Bringan, Bringans, Brangan and in one record Brennan. Have no idea what the original name really was.
I have a William Breingan born in Alva in 1858 married to an Isabella Bennett. I have found 10 children for them born in Rottearn, Dunblane. The eldest two were John Braynion 1780 and William Braynion 1783. The rest of the family were Breingan although Margaret 1801 is recorded as Braynion when she gets married. William and Isabella are my 4x great grandparents and my branch of the family spell it Breingan but some of their descendants are Bringan and it could be that some of the other alternative spellings have been used as well. I googled the name and found that somone had already done research on the name and I was able
to check the information with the records.
Hope this is of some use.
Good luck
