I have found a John Haynes baptised Birsay 7/9/1770 father Captain Arthur Haynes and mother Janet Ross baptised by a minister from Sandwick and Stromness.
Has anyone any info if John or Arthur left Orkney and ended up in Sussex?? being a Captain was he in the army? did they move to Sussex with the military...or as per usual am I barking up the wrong tree?

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Anne Proctor - death look up - Idle
« on: Wednesday 03 November 10 12:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
I'm looking to find the death of my Gt Grandmother Anne or Annie Proctor formerly Mawson.
She was born in 1877 in Idle and I'm sure she died there. However her marriage was registered in the North Bierley district.
I have a photo with myself as a baby and her present and I remember visiting her as a small child I was born 1965 so I was about 3 or 4 maybe when she died ???.
Her husband Albert died in 1949 they were married at the Primitive Methodist Chapel in Idle. The person reporting the death would be my grandfather Herbert. Her only child.

I have looked on Freebmd, but nothing really annoying

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / SIMPSON, Knaresborough confusion
« on: Friday 29 October 10 11:11 BST (UK)  »
I am looking to solve a little problem with the Simpson side of my family. I'm searching for a James Simpson my gggggrandfather. He was a weaver in 1847 stated on his daughter's marr cert, Jane Simpson who was born in knaresborough in 1827 and married 3 times in Otley/Baildon and Bradford. He also had a son William Simpson bn 1825 also in Knaresborough.
Jane had a daughter Ann Elizabeth Simpson my gggrandmother she was born in 1845, this is where the confusion begins born:
1851 East Morton,
1861 Morton
1871 now Proctor born Morton
1881 Proctor born Braidley
1891 Proctor bn Guiseley
1901 Proctor bn Bradford

On Ann E's marriage certif it states she has no father (poss illegitimate?)
I was wondering whether James actually came from Knaresbourough or the family came from the Braidley area and she went there to give birth away from her father.
A mystery.....any ideas anyone
