Fife / Re: Thomas Campbell & Marion Brown family of Dunfermline
« on: Monday 09 January 12 03:15 GMT (UK)  »
G'day Janis, thanks very much for the information.

My Elizabeth Campbell's married name became Anderson in 1844. But that's not to say my Campbell's and your Campbell's were not cousins a few more generations further back in the Campbell family tree.

We have hit a bit of a brick wall on my Elizabeth's parents names however we will eventually get more information and I will be able to build & share a picture on my Campbell's and a few other Campbell families of the Dunfermline region.

Thank you to everyone for your postings, please keep posting Campbell information.

Kind regards,
Stephen

Lanarkshire / Re: HELP ? Sir William Wallace
« on: Friday 06 January 12 12:50 GMT (UK)  »
G’day, we have discovered Wallace ancestors in our family tree living in Ayrshire in the late 1700’s.

We’ve not been as lucky as other posters who have managed to trace so far back in time, but we are interested to find out more about any other later Wallace generations please.

Do you know for sure that Sir William Wallace was born in Elderslie?

My ancestor Sara Wallace (record attached) was baptised 1793 in Mauchline Ayreshire (30 miles south of Elderslie) to Robert Wallace and Agnes Adamson. We estimate Robert Wallace was born sometime between 1772 to 1775, but we’re not 100% sure who his parents were.

Sara Wallace and her husband lived in Govan between 1819 to 1825, about 9 miles east of Elderslie.

Robert Wallace lived in Galstone at one point in time, about 26 miles south of Elderslie.

Any help with the Wallace clan would be appreciated.

Regards,
Stephen

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: John Hibberd & Caroline Ferrey family

G’day James & Derek thanks very much for your postings.

James this is all very new to me too; I only discovered a possible connection with the people mentioned in this thread late last year. As far as I’ve been told, no body else in the wider family in Australia has ever been able to find any of our ‘English’ ancestors in the past. James we 'think' our connection here is through Caroline Ferrey and her mother Caroline Hatcher. Please let me know which person you are connected to and I will try to work out how it all fits together.

Derek, 15 Children, WOW! …this is very welcome news to us.
The more names that pop up allows for an even better chance of eventually finding 'long lost' living ‘English’ relations after 175 years of Hatcher emigration to Australia.

Thanks very much for the extra information guys!

Regards,
Stephen

Australia / Re: Lookup request Aulbury Cemetery gravesite of William HATCHER 1877
« on: Saturday 19 November 11 03:37 GMT (UK)  »
G’day JM & Alison, thanks for your postings.

Unfortunately the certificate is the best one I have been given.

A few other family researchers had William born in 1841, but I can’t seem to find an actual birth anywhere for an 1841 William anywhere, I agree the 1850 William is more likely to be correct.

JM & Alison, I think your both spot on with the info in the informant section, including Charles Smith.

I kind of understand now that none of his relations were with him when he died in Albury, that may explain why there are so many ‘unknowns’ on his death certificate.

Hope his gravestone that should be located somewhere in the Church of England section at Albury has more information about a wife & any children.

No word back yet from the people at Albury cemetery about William's grave location yet.

Kindregards,
Stephen
