World War Two / Re: Query ~ HMS Victory WW2

The photo with the name Victory could be a view of the port side of an American Victory ship many of which were called "xxxxxxxxxxxx Victory"  I Googled Dominican Victory and think the lines and spring pipes look about right.

Hi Matt

Not quite sure why I never picked up your  post but only came across it by accident tonight.

I am still interested in CTP but I'm away on holiday in about six hours so I will have to get back to you on my return about 2nd week of Sept if this is OK?

Hi Suzilad

Thanks for the very speedy reply! I think you are right as the first two letters in the road name are very similar to the Sp of Spinster also in the clip. Google tells me Springburn Rd and Culloden St are a 45 minute walk apart. I assume there might have been trams too.

Thanks again!

I wonder if someone with a knowledge of the streets of Glasgow could identify the address occurring twice in the attached clip? It appears to me to be 812 S--ingburn  Rd.

Many thanks

Received the following today from RAF Museum

"Thank you for your enquiry.

War Cas HE Accts usually stands for War Casualty Home Establishment Accounts.  GGL 1893 is the code for the Authority which confirmed that death was presumed on 22.1.45.  Unfortunately the detail of what the Authority codes stand for has been lost. "

Unless someone has a copy of these codes hidden away it looks like this is as far as we get!

Thanks both for this information. I know quite a lot about the pilot and aircraft and the raid. I was just intrigued by the GCL or whatever stamp used twice in his records.

I think FB refers to fighter bomber - the a/c were Mosquito FBVIs.

I also thought the other abbreviation could be War Casualty Northern European accounts.

I will ask RAF museum if they know what GCL means and report back.
