« on: Monday 12 March 18 06:14 GMT (UK)  »
While I am not related to this Allan Family, or don't think I am (looking for Allan family, Stirling, Bridge of Allan area).
I have the following information that might interest members of this family
Extract from the New Zealand Cyclopedia.
"Mr. ALEXANDER ALLAN. Driver in charge at Cross Creek, was born in Nigg, Rosshire, Scotland, in 1848.
Leaving school at 14 years of age, Mr. Allan went to learn engineering with Messrs. Faulkner Bros. of Inverness, and after serving two years he returned to his native town, where for five years he was engaged in the engineering business on his own account. After a short time in North  America, Mr, Allan went to London, where he worked for a year with Messrs. Currie Bros., the well known steamship owners, and for two years was millwright in Woolwich Arsenal.
Landing in Wellington on 1st of January 1880, he got employment in the Phoenix Foundry, and a year later received an appointment in the New Zealand Government railway Department as a fitter in charge, and was subsequently promoted to the position he now holds. Mr. allan is well qualified for the responsible office he fill.
Sober, cautious, and capable he exercises a vigilant supervision over all entrusted to his care.
He is married, and has 5 children."

The reason I have this information is that I also lived in Cross Creek.
For  information on Cross Creek or  Rimutaka incline just google.

Hi Adebec,
Go on line, type in nswbdm and click on Family History- New South Wales.
Click on Deaths  and fill in information.
If I have it correct (William Jamieson) you should get the registration number V18021095 4/1802
and you can order the Death Certificate.
This may give you the information you are looking for.
