Hello
I can find the Williams family before 1897 but not the Owens in 1901.
The marriage was at Wigan Registry Office and you may need to buy the cert.
You have the 1901 census for the Williams and Mary Jane's mother is with  the Owens 1911

1891 census Westleigh Lancs
Mary Williams married 39 born Wrexham
Mary J 17 born Wrexham

Frances E 13 born Hanley
William 8 born Huyton Quarry lancs

1881 Baker St Huyton
James 33 coal miner Wales
Mary 29
Mary j 7

Frances E Staffordshire.

The couples children Mary Jane Mar 1874 Wrexham,David James Dec 1875 Son T,Frances Elizabeth Dec 1877 Son t ,William June 1882 Prescot all give mmn as Richards.

Their marriage was at Eturia St Mathews 11.11.1871
James Williams 23 bach Sidney st James Williams collier
Mary Richards 20 Sidney st Ellis  Richards shop keeper

1871 census has them in Hanley
James Williams lodger 23  coliier Flintshire in Bath St Hanley
Mary Richards 21 lodger Wrexham in Oldham St Hanley.
I'll see what else I can find.

World War One / Re: War Gratuity WW1
« on: Friday 03 May 24 12:33 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I'm not an expert in military affairs and got nowhere from his personal effect record but his WW1 records seem to be.
4 th Loyal North Lancs no 6860
1914 Corps 2/7th Manch. Regt. 5811
1915 Corps  2/10th Manch. Regt. 277455 Pte.
1916 Corps 1/10th Manch. Regt. 277455
by 1918 he was a Lance Corporal.

He got British War and Victory medals but strangely not the 1914 Star.
The record should include theatres of War in which her served but helpfully the clerk has left that blank.

Hi
It's a bit pot luck.Usually it's a matter of looking at family trees wiTh photos online.

Ancestry has a photo of her parents on its list of family trees.
Also his sisters Mary Elizabeth Burton 1862-1944.Fanny Maria 1854-1905 Brothers Joseph Colman Burton 1864-1872 and Alfred James 1866-1961.
There is Effe's sister Ethel 1889-1965

If you have ancestry have a look

Hello
The Winns /Winds again I see
Looking at George the census gives various birthplaces c 1801 in Durham.
The 1871 gives Chowdon and there is a baptism that matches,

George Wind born 4th July 1800 bapt 5th Oct 1800 s of William and Jane pitman of Chowdon in Lamesley.
The census was taken mar/April so he's the right age and born in the right place.

Looks like William married Jane Clark at Lamesley 26.5.1787
And a birth for William about 1762 burial 26.5.1817 of Washington but at Lamesley.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: worcestershire lookup MOBBERLEY
« on: Saturday 27 April 24 11:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello Ealagh
Welcome to Rootschat.
Yes I agree it looks like Elizabeth Mobberley b c 1785 is the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Mobberley bapt 20.6.1788 with her sister Lucy at Old Swinford.
I'm descended from her brother William bapt 3.5.1782 who was born while his father was at Royston Middlesex. He and his wife Eleanor are the ones witnessing her marriage.

These Mobberleys were on the poor side of the family ,unlike their richer brickmaker cousins who owned their own businesses. Most of them were nailors living on The Waste in mud huts up on the hill overlooking Lye.
As I discussed with METaunt his Joseph born 1816 ,could have been the son of Elizabeth or her sister Lucy ,and as you know there is no sign of a Nathaniel so they could be the same man as you suggest. And again the two Marys died as a baby and a 5 year old. Sarah Mobberley with a father Benjamin Marsh seems to be too much of a coincidence and must be the missing Elizabeth.

You seem to have been very thorough in your research and I can't see anything I can add. It is nice to know what happened to Elizabeth and interesting to hear of the Australian side of things.

My tree is on Ancestry if you have it .It goes back to John Mobberley and Alice Seabright.
