Sorry, it's taken me so long but I have the marriage certificate.

Her parents are Patrick Cassidy and Annie Cassidy,M.S.Stafford. She was 21 on the 31st of July 1916 when they married. I believe she had a brother George Cassidy who was a witness at the wedding.

The 1881 census entry is what the enumerator has copied from the householder's schedule. The enumerators had a short time to copy their set of schedules into the enumerator's books and it is quite possible that he wrote it with one 'T'

Stan

Thank you, that is really good to know.

Hi,

There is already a topic about my 2nd Great Grandfather Joseph Harrison Elliott born abt 1872 in Ryton, Durham, England and his wife Maria:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=656109.0

but i came across a census for 1881 England and Wales below and it got me wondering if he could have added a T?

1881 Census

Joseph Harrison Elliot

Birth: abt 1872
Ryton,Durham,England

Age 9

Parents: John and Mary Elliot

Siblings

Mary Ann
John
Maurice T.
Edward

Joseph named his son John Edward Elliott. Am I wondering down the wrong path?

Any help much appreciated,

Francesca

There is currently nothing online - The Mitchell Library in Glasgow holds many school records - you could try emailing them.

Thank you :). I have emailed them so hopefully they may have an idea.

Hi

You will find his birth on Scotlands People in 1926 but the images for that period cannot be downloaded so you would have to buy a copy of the cert

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  - it is a pay per view site via purchase of credits

Thank you  :)

Are there any ways that I can look-up school archieves in Govan,Glasgow on-line?

I'm looking for a Catholic boarding school in Govan my Grandfather and his brother attended. I believe they started abt 1929/1930 after death of their mother. The names Francis born 1923 and Cecil Alexander who's date of birth I do not know but he was younger than Francis.

Any help much appreciated,

Francesca

Hi,

I would like to find his birthdate or any info about him. This is all that I know.

Cecil Alexander born Govan,Glasgow. Parent's Samuel and Mary Alexander. I do not know his birthdate but his brother Francis was born in 1923 and then Cecil born after Francis is said to be the youngest. His mother died in 1929 during childbirth and then they were both sent to boarding school. His several sisters stayed at home (I know names).

He joined Norweigiam Vanker in Glasgow 1941-11 M/V MOSLEY and was last heard of on the SS Waimana which travelled to Auckland in 1950. I'm currently waiting for a book to read AN INNOCENT ABOARD by Warwick THOMSON which may mention his name.

Any help much appreciated,

Francesca

:-[ Oh dear! I just read how I worded it.

I was told by a family member that he was supposed to be on the memorial but when he went to check he didn't see him. He was told this growing up by John Edward.
