Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Occupation on the 1939 Register
« on: Sunday 17 September 17 16:23 BST (UK)  »
I have an occupation on the 1939 register of one my relations.  It looks to me as though it reads Ricemering.  I've conducted a search for this word or old occupation but can't find anything.

Any ideas?

Not that I know of. It does look like another letter though, possibly an R.

Thank you everyone for your help on this.  I've gone through a number of baptisms for John, but no luck so far.

Thank you Gadget & Heywood for your replies.

I do have the marriage certificate for John Cashen & Mary Luddy.  They married in St Aloysius Church on 28 May 1871.  John's father was also named John, deceased by 1871.  He was Labourer.  John was 23 when he was married and that puts his birth to 1848.

The Luddy family, Mary's father was Michael and his father was Jeremiah.

Thank you treetotal & josey for your answers.  Here is John Cashen's name from the census, showing a capital 'C'.

Thanks BumbleB for the reply.

I can't find a town or village in Tipperary that has the name Allon/Alloa.  Not to sure on why its there.  I was hoping to narrow down my search to where my Cashen family were connected to.
