Family History Beginners Board / Re: Adress in Liverpool
« on: Thursday 21 August 14 09:11 BST (UK)  »
its a bit of a mystery. I don't think they lived there. I get the impression they were staying there for some reason. I wondered if it was a hotel or lodging type of building. The address has come from a letter made out to my ancestor from his father who couldn't be with him on his birthday. The letter itself is very strange. I will attempt to upload it on here later. it is written to a child on his 2nd birthday.

Family History Beginners Board / Adress in Liverpool

Very random but im wondering if anyone can shed any light on an address for me in Liverpool. One of my ancestors had stayed there whilst they were a child... Ive searched for it on the 1911 census to see if that could shed more light on if it was a residential address or something else.
The address is The Lodge, Onslow Road, Fairfield, Liverpool. Does anyone know of the area?? They stayed there in 1903
Any ideas?????

Yeah that was a post I started a long time ago. I'm not 100% sure its correct.some of the children seemed to have arrived before they were married. I'm just rediscovering some things at the moment.

Hi and welcome to rootschat ;D

With his job is the most likely following the work and/or where he was sent. I would look into the company or companies he worked for and where their contacts were
Any ideas where I could find out what company he worked for?

Hi and welcome :)

This looks like it might be your Ferdinand's baptism - birthdate shown as 31/12/1853:

I began researching my husbands family tree about four years ago and hit a few dead ends so I put it to bed. However I've got the searching bug again and want to pick it back up. I'm specially looking for records of when Ferdinand Noel Buch (b 1854 Copenhagen) arrived into England. I have first found him on the 1881 census in kings Lynn, then on the following  census records until his death in 1911. I've managed to follow him around the UK between 1881 and 1911, he worked as a ship brokers clerk and a coal and exports manager between these dates and lived in Scotland, hull and Liverpool to name but a few places. eventually he died in three hull asylum. Does anyone have any suggestions of where else I could look or research. I'm interested in why he would have come to the UK and why he would have moved around do frequently. Any ideas welcome.
