I have a feeling you won't solve this till 1921 census arrives, and we can't wait, well I can't

I don't understand why she isn't on 1901 with son born 1900 Sept Qtr, her husband came from Rio so perhaps they had gone there

Louisa Maud

No Reginald was still in the country. I agree strange about 1901

Is it this birth?

RAWLINS, CLARESSA       CLEALL
GRO Reference: 1870  S Quarter in BEAMINSTER  Volume 05A  Page 381

Yes it very well could be.

I could order a birth certificate and see if it provides a mother.

Burial Wincanton
Francis Rawlings
aged 31
buried on 20th March 1883 (could be 30th)

Louisa Maud

Are you saying, you think Francis Rawlings was her father? Could he have fathered her as a young man, outside of marriage?  Her birth date is 1870 June when Francis would have been 18 years old.

I haven't found a birth certificate but I have 18th June 1870 as her birth date. On birth she was Clarissa Rawlings.

On marriage in 1899, November 11th Wesleyan Chapel, Fulham she was Carissima Rawlings. On wedding certificate gives her father as deceased Dr Frank Rawlings. She was living at the time at 89C Fulham Park Gardens, Fulham.

Prior to the wedding, September 6th 1899 she applied for a passport. I haven't traced as travel or honeymoon.  I do have a picture of her husband, Reginald Fairfax Wells standing on the desk of a ship at sea. It is updated.

Thank you to everyone. This is a huge learning curve for me and a journey.

It could well be and it would make sense. So you would have:-

Oh! that I might join our first beautiful Maker

I wonder whether it is from anything or is just something that was made up either by the couple or any relative who had the gravestone done.

I was told the inscription was done at the time of the first death, Reginald. So it would be done by his wife.  I guess it could be something she made up. I hadn't thought of that.

Thank you for your help.
