My Great Uncle was in this battalion and a family story says he was a medic. Is there anyway to find out if this was true?

I am looking for any information on the above Battalion, I know part of it was at Brocton Camp Staffs in early 1917 and moved to Newark in October of that year, but I would like to know if it every saw action in France.

Phil

My John William was the one born in Stockingford, his actual DoB was june 1889,  We had assumed that the pension records and the medal cards were one of the same. We thought the reason for the original award of the medals being withdrawn because of his  injury, but I agree having re-looked at the card it is a little strange. Would the medal roll give any more detail?

I have not yet found if there any war diaries or similar for the 3rd Bn, we actually live near Lincoln and I might try the county achieve or even the Regt Assoc to see if there is any more info.

The surviving children (My Aunts) of John, do not appear to know anything about his military service, so that avenue goes no where.

Thanks for all this most useful information, it's a lot to take in and adds a lot to my family tree. What I would love to do is find a living relative so is there anyway to come forward in time to find out what happened to Bette O'brien. Did she get married? and could there be any children. I know it's a long shot but is it possible to look up marriages in the Hackett, ACT area.
I've also been told Nancy had 2 children John & Arthur Hurst, can anyone find any info on them. My last address for them is Sydney.

Can anyone help me trace my Grandma's sister Florence Lester's family. She married Joseph Peacock in England in 1919 and then emigrated to Australia with him, he was in the autralian army during WW1. She parted from him and married Mick Livingstone who was the manager of a gold mine in New Guinea. Her last address was Moorookbark, Victoria.
She had 2 children Agnes & Nancy. Agnes Hurst had a daughter Bette O'brien last known living in O'connor, ACT in 1988.
I know Florrie died in 1982

Am visiting Kew soon to try and trace several relatives that were in the army through WW1. Can anyone give me tips on how I can find information in the war diaries.
For example, I know my Grandfather was in the Leicester Regiment as I have a copy of his service record & medal card. I also know he was gassed and shot in his hand. How do I find which batallion he was in and where he went?

Does any one have any history of the chapel  or even photographs you are willing to share.
