Durham / stuck already, not good :(
« on: Friday 13 February 15 13:37 GMT (UK)  »
Good afternoon,

My uncle has asked if I could do his family tree, unfortunately he doesn't know much.

The only info I have is: his father was born Feb 1919 Durham and was called Thomas Spark English (He died in Cambridgeshire, not sure if he came down south on his own or with family) ,  ...Uncle doesn't know his grandparents and I managed to find a marriage between a George English and Florence Pearson (who may be the grandparents), they were married 1916 Durham and my uncles sister & brother, who are both older than him are called George & Florence...yes I am guessing and hoping but I have sent of for Thomas Spark English BC, so will find out soon...............

Spark is an unusual middle name so I did a basic search... (English * Spark) and it came up with.....Frank Spark English 1885 Durham...now I am hoping Frank, with his middle name spark is somehow related to Thomas...especially as they are both born Durham.......this would be great if I could find Frank in the 1891/1901/1911 census,,,I cannot :(

would it be possible to see if anyone else can locate Frank.

I understand if not as not a lot of info to go on.

many thanks

London and Middlesex / Re: Where has he gone (John Lindsay)

Thank you Milliepede, apologies for not replying sooner.

I also am assuming John (witness) is son not dad....

I have the marriage details for Margaret although not the actual cert...she married Alfred Thomas Sherriff Andrews 1883 West Ham.

Besides John Lindsay missing, son's James, John & Herbert are also very elusive...daughters Elizabeth (3 x GM) and Margaret are no problem.

I found a James Lindsay who maybe the son living at 15 Huberts Grove, Lambeth in 1881 (born Leith, Scotland)....
A John Lindsay (poss son) in 1881:  where born:, London, Middlesex, England , Civil Parish:Vessels , County/Island:Cheshire, Street address: "Ranger ...occ Fireman
and Herbert Lindsay just in 1881 with mum.

Thank you

London and Middlesex / Where has he gone (John Lindsay)

Good morning all  :)

I am looking for John Lindsay (4 x GF) who has disappeared after the 1861 census, this is the info I have on him

John was born c1826 Scotland and married Elisabeth Barrie 15 Jun 1849, Glencorse, Midlothian, Scotland.

In 1861 John & Elisabeth are living at 42 Randall Street, Bromley, Middlesex (with children James, John & Elizabeth) - occ: Shop Keeper

1871: Elisabeth and children (2 more, Margaret & Herbert) are at 32 Hemsworth St, West Ham, Essex

1875 daughter Elizabeth gets married (Poplar), John's occ on marriage cert is now Saddler (he is not down as deceased)

1881 Elisabeth (wife) is listed as widowed....

really appreciate any help / hints on finding him or even his death.

Many thanks

hello margp,

I haven't got the marriage cert for Amelia Eustace Howell to Gomer Morgan, although I will apply for it....I was looking for Amelia's birth and thought it really strange there wasn't one, especially as I can find the births of Arabella's / Robert Howells other children, and the fact that Arabella is missing from the 1861 census (Robert has the children with him).

Will apply for cert and let you know if Robert is down as father or not :)
