They are amazing finds, DCB. I have only had a chance to scan them but there looks like there is also clue in his middle name of "Wynne". Possibly another example of "keeping it in the family"? They seemed very keen on consolidating power and influence through land ownership. It may also point to why Robert Pughe-Jones, as a Barrister, was so keen to have all asset and wealth flow back into the line at every opportunity.
On your response to the potential Quaker US link, the final line I am having problems with is that of Ann Pugh's son's (John Jones) wife; Jane Roberts (1808 - 1849), her father was Edmund Roberts b.1781 of Ucheldre Park, Anglesey. Her mother, Margaret Thomas of Aberffraw, Anglesey.
Edmund Roberts's father could be Hugh Roberts (1740 - 1785) who is recorded as having died in the Menai Straight Ferry Disaster where there was only one survivor. All the records I can access point to his Father being a John Roberts who lived his whole life in Milford, Pennsylvania, had three wives and 10 children....with only Hugh staying in Wales??
Is there anything in the Pedigrees of Anglesey/Carnarvonshire Families book you mentioned that might add some clarity to this?
Once again, appreciate your help in pushing through my final "Brickwalls".
Regards,
Alan.
