London and Middlesex / Moorby of Lambeth?
« on: Sunday 09 January 22 05:12 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find the birth of William MOORBY about 1773 and for Richard MOORBY 1748
It is possible these were related but we would like to verify this.
Both were tiplate workers both had sons named Richard
Richard left a will when he died mentioning a nephew William but annoyingly there are blank spaces where William's addressand the name of his wife were meant to be.
Some trees on An..ry say William was born in Lambeth but give no baptism date or parents
Can anyone see a record in Lambeth to bear this outplease?

Family History Programs, Tree Organisation, Presentation / Share Mouse
« on: Sunday 22 August 21 17:45 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone used Share Mouse between a Mac and Windows machine please?
We use Family Historian and parallels to operate on a mac but the mac is now rather old and we have been told that parallels wont operate with the latest version of Mac. If we get a windows laptop is there anyway to use it in conjunction with the mac machine? Can we transfer information between the machines seamlessly?

Armed Forces / Court Marshal
« on: Friday 06 August 21 11:40 BST (UK)  »
From military records of Edward HERRINGSHAW can us please help with this entry of his court martial. Being drunk does not seem to warrant being reduced to the ranks.
Where was the Court Martial ?
He was drunk in/on Canteen Fatigues duty. What is that?
The court martial is on two pages on the FindMyPast website.

Census and Resource Discussion / difficult to read 1851 census
« on: Monday 02 August 21 11:38 BST (UK)  »
I have found a 1851 census on An..try but can not read the occupation of the head of the family, because the image is badly faded. I have tried to look at the negative image but that has not helped either I have tried to find it on the Find My Past site but it does not appear to be on the site at all (I even tried searching for people on the previous and next pages with no result on FindMyPast)
Is there anywhere else where I can see the 1851 census?
Will I be in breach of any rules if give the references?

Devon / New Inn BEAFORD and the Parish Clerks of Beaford
« on: Thursday 10 June 21 13:55 BST (UK)  »
Help I am once again on the trail of a family publican.
John Marshall died in Beaford in 1840  His death was announced in the Exeter and Plymouth Gazette 22 August 1840
July 31, at Beaford , near Great Torrington, Devon, aged 79 years, Mr John Marshall of the New Inn  in that place. deservedly respected as an honest and inoffensive man.
His son also gave John's occupation as Innkeeper but I can not find any trace of a New Inn in Beaford (there was a Globe and a Gunsmith's Arms)
Has anyone any information about this house please?
Secondly His son was the church warden from 1837- his death in 1883.
John Marshal witnessed mostof the marriages in Beaford from1793 at least to the end of the register on line
A William Marshall witnessed nearly all the weddings from 1777 until John took over in 1793
Is there any evidence anywhere that John and the older William were alo Parish Clerks
Finally can anyone find the birth of John Marshal around 1781 to see if  the older William was indeed his father.
Hope someone can help
Many thanks Trees
