England / Re: was james odonnell in england 1901

In 1911 the family were at 6 Cairns Street in Belfast (link to 1911 census posted earlier).
Number 8 was for sale within the last few years-

There was a lot of bomb damage in Belfast during WWI and much was redeveloped afterwards so their house has changed but if you use Google Streetview around the area- Lower Clonard Street for example- you'll get an idea of what it did look like.

You could check birth certificates for the children if you want other addresses. The Belfast directories can be useful to find street that no longer exist (another result of redevelopment)-

Cavan / Re: Bernard & Patrick Dunne Baillieborough

Hi,
Bernard Dunne was my great grand father. I'm the granddaughter of his son Harold. I'm also trying to find any record of Bernard returning to Ireland. Also have not been able to find birth records for Patrick and Bernard or death records for Mary who was alive when Bernard came to Australia in 1881

Civil registration of births in Ireland started 1864- there will be no birth records before this date so you need to see if church records survive. Many R.C. parish registers here (free)-
https://registers.nli.ie/

This would be the place to look for Mary's death (another free site)-

Lots of alternative spellings such as Altybryan, Altibryan, etc.

Civil registration in Ireland didn't start until 1864 so for earlier dates you need to see if church records survive.

When my mother-in-law died in 1990 the custom was to have the service at home then the men proceeded to the grave with the coffin. As soon as they left the women made themselves a cup of tea then prepared food which was served to the men when they returned. The food was either a complete sit down dinner or sandwiches, scones & buns served with tea.
It was a little while later that I remember hearing of women at the graveside (the two daughters of the dead woman)- it was quite uncommon.

Wouldn't read too much into that. In my grandfather's family the eldest daughter was named for an older sister of his mother, next daughter after sisters of both parents, third daughter after mother & mother's mother but none for father's mother (there were three more daughters) even though they were very fond of father's mother from what I'm told. The eldest son named for father & grandfather, next for mother's father, third for one of mother's brothers who lived near them and youngest for stepson of mother's sister.

Baptism of Patrick Woods in 1837 Kilbeggan Co. Westmeath lists parents as Lack Woods & Ellena Flatery-
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:651Q-SXQN

The couple had other children- just search for Lack Woods & Ireland in Family Search tehn se if you can find the original register- https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0943 (parish is on Offaly border)

May not be connected but searching Irish Genealogy for Lac* Wood* I only get 1 result- a birth in 1906 Co. Leitrim to Lackey McGloin (mother Annie Woods)-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1907/01709/1677030.pdf
However it's probably just a coincidence since there were older Lacky McGloins.

Searching same site for Lac* brings up Lackin, Lactin, Lachlean, Lachy, Lacklen, Lachlin, Lackie, Lacklan, Lack, Lachlan, Lacky, Lackey
