Where do I go from here? I have uploaded to GEDMatch and I am just waiting for 24-48 hours for it to process. Is it worth uploading my DNA to MyHeritage?
Queenie  :)

In my opinion it is more useful uploading to Gedmatch, MyHeritage or FTDNA than Ancestry. The reason for this is that these sites tell you where you match on each individual chromosome and this makes it easier to accept or reject matches. That said the fact that you have already tested with Ancestry is a plus as it is easier to upload data from there to the other sites than vice versa.

I would say yes upload to MyHeritage but you will have to be patient as the response to matching is no where near as quick as it use to be and of course it is dependent on people who would be a match also having uploaded.

So yes to uploading to MyHeritage provided you accept that it may be some while before you get a really useful match, if ever.

Good luck.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Help with DNA results

You can use the shared cM tool for free at

https://dnapainter.com/tools

If you do you will see a likely relationship of the match to your mother is a great grandparent. Armed with what you know about the match, your own tree and online trees you may be able to establish the match more accurately - or you could contact the match.

Good luck.

I am looking for the burial of an Elizabeth Mallett that matches this record

Deaths Sep quarter 1874
MALLETT    Elizabeth    74    Walsingham    4b   191

The parish is possibly Little Walsingham but the records for this date are not on Ancestry, familysearch or freereg. I think they are on findmypast but my sub has expired.

Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Occupation Interests / Re: Seafarer's wage in 1890 -- £300 for 5 days work??

It is on Ancestry UK but not easy to find https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/9274/

Thanks for that. Yes it is on Ancestry.co.uk but you can not see the details you need the .com subscription for that.

I assume that is on Ancestry.com because it does not appear to be on Ancestry.co.uk ?

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Re: Can someone explain this DNA anomaly?

The difficulty with Living DNA is you just have the one total figure i.e. 54.6 cM.

My assumption would be that this is enough to probably rule out a match on your mother's side. However you do not have enough information, in my opinion, to rule out the match being on your father's side. The reason I say this is you are descended from your father but your cousin is not. Your cousin is descended from one of your father's parents and so the DNA they have inherited from the mutual grandparents could be sufficiently different to not trigger the de minimus limits Living DNA are using.

You could try contacting the match and either throwing some names at them to see if they mean anything or getting them to upload their results to a site that gives more of a breakdown of the DNA such as MyHeritage.com (for a fee) or gedmatch.com (free i believe but do check).

Good luck
