Thanks.  You should borrow a copy of the Tellicherry Five from your Library - I imagine you'd find it fascinating.

Why not post dates and names in the relevant sections on Rootschat and see if someone can help.

Good Luck

Griffiths Valuation for Bray (1852-3) lists as Head of Household, a James Kearns living at Main Street, Bray.

It could be more than a coincidence that your Thomas named his son James - after Thomas's father??

Yes, there was a William Wolverston of Stillorgan, a landowner, who also held land in Little Bray.  William was the father of a James Wolverston.

The Tellicherry Five book gives a List of Rebels proclaimed (wanted) by Military and gives its address as Rathdrum, 14 October 1800.
On that list there is a JOHN Byrne (son of Owen Kittagh) with a description of him being 5' 7" - 5' 8" tall, dark hair, aged about 20.
Directly below on the list is TERENCE Byrne who is stated to be "brother to John" and 5' 11", dark hair. age about 20.
As far as I can see there is no other reference to Terence, although there are a good few other Byrnes mentioned.

Dublin / Re: Cooper family Bray County Dublin

Hi

I was in Bray this afternoon and took a stroll up Chapel Lane.  Yes, there is an old pub on the corner, but also, if your ancestor worked with horses, he may have been employed in nearby Kilruddery Estate, home of the Brabazons (Lord Meath). This estate is at the southern end of Bray, not far from where your ancestors lived.

If you'd like to pm me, there might be good news for you.

Griffiths Valuation (carried out around 1850) shows two Coopers as Heads of Households in Little Bray and ironically, both listed as Dublin:-
Cooper Francis, Little Bray, Oldconnaught, Dublin
Cooper George, Little Bray Lane leading to Chapel, Oldconnaught Dublin

I noticed a Death of an Emily Counihan in the first quarter of 1951 in Limerick, aged approx 60....    I wonder if this is the same Emily.

Hi

Yes, it seems like we're talking about the same family.  I have Richard Counihan b. Kerry (m) Mary Byrne of Limerick and their children correspond.

However, its the elusive Christopher I'm after.  Apparently he married at St Johns Church in July 1915 - but then the trail goes cold!  I'm pretty sure they had one or two children but then what happened to them all after that?

Does any of this ring bells with you.

Cheers
