Wexford / Re: Sly Family

Apparently a member of the Slye family owned Oulartleigh, a house in Enniscorthy (not very far from Ferns)
in the latter part of the 19th century.  Unfortunately I do not have any christian names.

Wexford / Re: Eyre in Wexford - Early to Mid 1800's

The marvellous "Houses of Wexford" book makes two references to a Mr Eyre proprietor of Whites Hotel.  Under a description of (1) Ashfield House, Killinick and (2) Ballybrennan, Killinick (located in South Wexford) which is apparently part of a 13th century castle built by the Sinnotts but was owned by Mr Eyre in the late 19th or early 20th century.

Ireland / Re: Hadnett......HELP!

Guy's Postal Directory 1914 lists a Sergeant W F Hadnett in charge of Monkstown Station, Co Dublin.

I also recall a Hadnett's Shop in Dundrum, Co Dublin in the early 1960s and I'm pretty certain it was run by a Policeman and his wife.

Do you know William Roe's religion?

Also, Griffiths Valuation shows a number of Roe families in Offaly.  Take a look at

The IGP website mentions a marriage at Glenealy on 8 Jan 1840 of Joseph Chamney of Glenealy to Maria Body (sic) Glenealy,  Witnesses: George Bodey and William Bradshaw.

The Tyrrells are synonymous with seafaring in ARKLOW for centuries and there have been several Michael Tyrrells.

It would be lovely to put your post up on the Wicklow board in the hope of attracting the attention of the present day Tyrrells, who are still involved.   Wouldn't it be nice to let them have this Licence, provided it belonged to one of their family!

Limerick / Re: Elizabeth Mitchell WARREN b. abt 1807 where?
« on: Saturday 16 May 09 14:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

From an earlier posting, I gather Thomas Powell and Elizabeth Warren married in the C-o-I Church.  If that is so, Stradbally would be the relevant parish.

I've gone through the actual Marriage Register for 1828 and there is definitely no sign of this Powell-Warren marriage.

Beginning 1829, there are baptisms for children born to Thomas & Elizabeth "Powel".  The names of these children are Eyre, Hannah Catherine and Mary Elizabeth.

I looked for other Warrens - I'd have expected to find (births, marriages or deaths) - but didn't find even one.  It looks like Elizabeth Warren may have married Thomas in her own Parish ..... but where was that??

Where did you get the names of Elizabeth's parents?   I know of a marriage in 1796 in Stradbally of a William Warren (no address) and Honor Fitzgerald of Castleconnell.

Cheers
