Cornwall / Sophia MaudPassmore born 1905 and Lea Mude Passmore born 1910 Camborne
« on: Tuesday 26 April 16 17:36 BST (UK)  »
Lea Mude born 1910 was the daughter of Marina and William H Passmore and they lived in Camborne.
I haven't been able to find out what happened to Lea after 1911. Did she emigrate at any time?
Lea Mude had a sister called Mude who was also known as Sophia born 1905 in Camborne and Sophia is on Ellis Island as going to the US in 1923 arriving 4th October 1923. Sophia was to  meet her intended husband Mr F G Jones who lived at 4036?, Brooklyn Avenue,Detroit ,Michigan and she called herself Sophia Maud and her father was William H Passmore who was living in Camborne was her nearest relative.
Sophia didn't stay in the US because she married in Cornwall but not Mr Jones! There is  a line through her details and I wonder if she actually went to the US and if she did will anyone be able to find her return passage and what happened to Mr F G Jones? Where did they meet in the first place?

I can't find a marriage for Peggy to know  the name of her husband or whether Peggy married in the Uk or the US.

Can't find them in 1920 but in 1940 they are living at  Tract 875, Grosse Pointe Farms, Grosse Pointe Township, Wayne, Michigan, United States and William is a fireman at at a power company.
William and his wfe returned to Cornwall for a visit to his parents August 1926 at Illogan Highway (FindMyPast) and then returned to the USA.
I can't find the a death of either of them though.
Although William's brother Richard H Richards emigrated to the US but returned to Cornwall with his family to live  in Cornwall (post about Richard on the US board) I can't find anything to suggest that William and his wife did the same.
Edited: Changed to can't find the couple in the 1920 census.

The daughters of Richard and Janie were born in 1918 and 1919.
I have found marriages for the daughters in the Redruth district.
Richard emigrated in 1920 with his first wife Rita and their 2 daughters. Janie Trevena was his 2nd wife.
A kind person found this information for me:  Viola Richards daughter, as shown on the 1930 US census record.  She came back to Newlane, Redruth. aged 13, a Student, on board the Aquitania, which departed from New York and arrived at Southampton on 8 October 1930.
Richard,Janie and Beatrice born 1919 are hard to find.
Elsewhere I have had help to try and find these people but no luck yet.

US Completed Requests / Divorce County of Gogebic,State of Michigan
« on: Sunday 22 November 15 16:27 GMT (UK)  »
An ancestor filed an application for a divorce in 1908 and it was granted in 1909, the divorce being absolute. The information is along with many other divorced people on the same page.
Is it possible to see the actual divorce papers online because I would like to know the actual details.
The same ancestor also got divorced in Arizona and I was sent the relevant information  (for free) from an Arizona site and it was quite interesting reading.
