which was the nearest I could find of the right age, in East Anglia sort of area - ish.
But reading back through your posts it looks like he moved up north. There is also a death of one of right age in YOrkshire in 1915.
could well be him Liz........... Husbands Father always believed that His Dad and Uncle, John William and Charles Edward came to the North as Gravediggers, so maybe they moved back down south after 1901.
will send for MC for John to Ellen Maria Spall. maybe will get info from that,
also did anyone have any luck finding Johns Occupation at Death (Sexton)>
John William 1902 always lived in the same house before and after his Marriage in 1929. Rectory Road Winlaton,

thank you for all of you good folks hunting around.
I agree with you on the Census.. I had saved the two Family's and thought they had been mixed up. it only remains for me to be sure its the Right John Stocks,
as Earlier post said Born Feb 20th 1867. so by 1901 when living at Burnopfield, Durham he should be 34 not 31 as written. but everything else Fits. his First son was registered as Frederick. then there is John William, then Charles Edward, so the names carry on,
but can anyone find his Death ? or tell me if there would be a record of him Being a Sexton,
as stated in first message, he was Deceased on Son John Williams Marriage in 1929.

On 1891 Census it states his age as 23. he was in the Army.
so guess age could differ, I Know doing my Family in Northumberland the Ages differ quite a lot, just trying to Help Hubby with his tree. and all we have to go on is John Marriage to Ellen Maria Spall. maybe if I send for that it should give his fathers name.

can anyone Help?
Looking for Information on John Stocks Born circa 1870
what we know so far is He Married Ellen Maria Spall in March 1896.in Suffolk. then Moved to Durham ,
on 1901 Census gives his age as 31 and Born in Saxmundham. He is my Husbands Gt Grandfather, By 1906 John and Ellen had three Sons, Fenwick 1899 Humshaugh Northumberland, John William 7 Jan 1902. (Husbands Grandfather) and Charles Edward June 1906. when his son John William Married April 1929 it says on Marriage Certificate. fathers name John Stocks Deceased . Occupation (Sexton). so any help on Tracing Johns Birth and parents names would be greatly Appreciated

just got back on line and saw your Note.
Euphemia was just that on all the Census returns from Marrying William, as I Had thought along the same lines as you as My Gt Aunt Euphemia was Named after her and we always called her Aunt Phemie , guess we will know once I Get the BC.

Hello again Barbara and all the other generous Helpers
As you suggested I will need to send for one of the Children's Birth Certs, I was hopeful that one of you very clever people may find it, I think last time I was Doing this search I thought it might be the Euphemia Smeathers as she was living as a servant at Newton on the Moor which is just a stones throw from Shilbottle, so I thought they may have met there,
have not done anything about this line until now as William is the Brother of John Holmes 1837 which is my Direct line, but would like to branch out,
I really am grateful for all your input,
and to Barbara, its great hearing from you again,
been back to England Twice since we last had contact.
got quite a few Photographs to add to tree while last there.
