I really don't know how to describe the original, it seems like paper attached to glass, it can't be separated, yet where it's broken its seems like it is paper?

Thanks for your interest.

Can anyone help with dating this, it may help to identfy her?  All the family  I think it came from originated in Glamorgan, most in the area pre 1837 if that is any help.  It was with lots of "stuff" that belonged to my late Mother, unfortualtley she didn't ever tell me who it was - can't even remember seeing it before Mum died.  Any help with a tidy/clean up appreciated.

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: Is ancestry bugged?
« on: Wednesday 11 November 09 23:34 GMT (UK)  »
I've had problems for the last few days, if I go straight to the BMD's or Census I get "no matches found", this is even with records which I know are there.  It's been driving me nuts too, a search from the home page has changed as well, instead of showing all results, its now giving me the option of so many on different census or so many births etc., but a search on someone already linked in a tree is showing in the usual way.  I'm hoping it will sort itself out somehow. >:(

Glamorganshire / Re: Bethany Baptist Church, Brynmenyn

Hi,  I've just looked at the advert you mention for the converted chapel in Bryn Road, that is the one opposite the Fox and Hounds pub.  There is another smaller chapel a few hundred yards away, also on Bryn Road near Penybryn Hill, sorry I don't know which is Bethany Baptist Church, just hope my description of the sites may help you.

Family History Beginners Board / Re: Tree connections in Ancestry
« on: Sunday 20 September 09 02:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

You could try telling them who that person is descended from, give them them the basic info. from that person back as far as you can, if you can't remember it's probably someone you have discovered by working down the tree (rather than back), if you know whatI mean.  I have made a few contacts with people who share 10 x great grandparents, so it could be something similar in your case.  Though I have found lots of tree on Ancestry which are totally inaccurate as they are copied, and copied again, so the first one may have been a guess and someone else has taken as fact.  I have entered a few doubtful people, which I know may not be correct and have found several trees since that have that information - it's why I made my tree private - I don't want anyone assuming that I have all the correct information.  So please don't use Ancestry to copy information without checking all facts for yourself - you'll end up with a tree that is as useless as fiction.

Hi again, not sure if this will work, I'm not that good with computers, from the info. I got tonight this link should show you where Jenkins Row was, it was demolished before 1960 and ran at a right angle to the main road (Bridgend Road).   If you would like further info. on the area please pm me.  There is a Library in Aberkenfig which may have more information for you and I have been told that a Cafe on the main street has old maps of the village.

Good luck

OK, have viewed it, Jenkins Row is listed after Bridgend Road, which is the main road through the village, so I would presume that Jenkins Row must have run off that, (if I'm wrong presuming that, I hope someone will correct me). There is also a Brook Row nearby which I don't think is an Aberkenfig address now.  I will see some friends later who may know, so I'll get back to you later today/tomorrow.

Sorry it doesn't ring any bells, can you give me the 1901 census reference, maybe I could work it out if I could see nearby street etc,  I'll also ask friends who know the area better than me.
