Yorkshire (West Riding) / Horsforth chapel Guiseley - Now complete with thanks
« on: Monday 20 October 14 08:48 BST (UK)  »
Recently supplied the information of a John Hillas baptism record 1768 to a correspondant in USA.
(Information supplied via local library on microfiche record)
The person in USA has managed to locate additional information such as a possible location of father, [could it be from a BT (Bishops transcription)] but unable to decipher the complete entry.
My question being how would the entered parish record differ from a BT, and where could I view the original BT (or copy but not a transcription).

The Lighter Side / Channel 4 Secrets of the Body Snatchers - Tony Robinson
« on: Monday 01 September 14 09:04 BST (UK)  »
Anyone catch the above program which started last night at 9.00pm?
(Suggest anyone with catchup a good watch)
Once the program had dealt with snatching bodies from graves the program went on about the poor people.
If a workhouse inmate died, the master had the option of selling the body for the equivalent of 60pounds to the local hospital.
Many bodies were cut up for clinical studies, once a hospital had finished with body parts they were dispatched into a grave under a guise of a normal funeral.
[So many graves may have been filled with bones from say 10-12 bodies cut up.]
