London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: young offender
« on: Thursday 01 February 18 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for all replies.  I have tried getting info from the industrial school records at Chester, but they have no information of specific pupils..  Albert wasn't an orphan as the parents and siblings were still around on the census.  The idea of playing truant seems feasible.  Any suggestions as to which papers would have any info. on that?

My g.grandfather, Albert Edward Moore was born in St. Pancras in 1866, one of 11 children of Jephthah and Jemima.  He is in the 1871 census at St.Pancras and then appears at Macclesfield Industrial School in the 1881 census.  Can anyone suggest where to look to find out why he was sent there?

If you browse through the macclesfield shops pictures on Pinerest, you will find a picture of Derby Street.  I also bought material from the Derby Street Warehouse.  What a store ut was!

Sorry I have found no reason for the link to Macclesfield.  Apparently the reason for being sent to industrial school was begging, homelessness, misbehaviour or out of control.    As I have found the family of my ancestor and the other children seem OK I think it must be one of the latter !

Staffordshire / Heapy marriage
« on: Thursday 18 December 14 10:56 GMT (UK)  »
I  have been sorting out my records and find that I have 2 records for the marriage of Joseph
Heapy and Martha Wardle.   They married on 11 Jan 1819,  but was it at Longnor or Alstonfield? :-[
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Baptism at Worksop
« on: Saturday 12 April 14 19:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for the baptism record of Martha Jackson.  I know she was married at Worksop on 21st April, 1814, so I am guessing at a baptism around 1780-90.  Can anyone help :-\
