Hi

Well, you may have a point - if only Littleboro were listed in the index. I don't know where it is !!! I'm willing to have a look if I know where to look - perhaps you can get back to me.

Cheers, Karen

Hi

Expect you know this but the 1861 census is not indexed - in other words you can only search the handwritten fiches, there is no printed version. Unfortunately, without an address (unless it's a small village) you are unlikely to get a posiitve response for a lookup - sorry !

Cheers Karen

Hi
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you.... I'm afraid I can't find your Claridges at 14 Kingsmead Terrace. What is clear, however, is that this address is, or rather was, a boarding house since the occupation of the 'wife' is 'boarding house keeper' and there are two boarders and three lodgers residing there, in addition to to the resident Smith family - husband, wife and two kids. Must have been a big house. So, presumably your people were passing through from one place to another. It's something, but not what you wanted I know - sorry.

Cheers,
Karen

Hi

I looked up your Thomas in various directories and the results are...

1846 Bath directory
Thomas CLARIDGE, tailor - 29 Grove Street, Bath

1864 Post Office directory
as above - 14 Kingsmead Terrace, Bath

1895
George Claridge, insurance agent - 33 South Avenue, Bath

I'll look up the Kingsmead Terr address in 1861 census when I get home (if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Cheers, Karen
